Abstract The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 marked a major milestone in particle physics, completing the Standard Model (SM). However, rare and exotic decays of the Higgs boson offer unique opportunities to explore physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). These decays, characterized by suppressed branching ratios in the SM or unconventional final states, provide powerful probes of new phenomena such as dark matter candidate, hidden sectors, and additional symmetries. This presentation highlights recent ATLAS results on rare Higgs decays, including as well as searches for exotic decay modes, such as decays to long-lived particles or dark sector states. We will discuss the experimental challenges in identifying these signatures, the innovative techniques employed to enhance sensitivity, and the constraints placed on BSM models.
