Abstract The first year of Run 3 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) revealed significant changes in both linear and nonlinear optics errors with respect to Run 2. Several iterations of optics corrections were required to successfully bring the linear optics within operational tolerances. This paper presents the current status of optics corrections in the LHC and the challenges experienced in commissioning the optics to a beta* of 30cm in a single commissioning year after the Long Shutdown.
