CERN's official acceptance of the PM57 lift at HL-LHC Point 5

Date: 21-07-2023

The installation of the PM57 lift at Point 5, where the CMS experiment is located, is the entry point to the HL-LHC Point 5 shaft and underground galleries. This is an important milestone for the HL-LHC project. The construction is needed for the new underground structures at Point 5 close to the largest underground particle accelerator in the world (Large Hadron Collider). The High-Luminosity LHC is a new project aimed to upgrade the accelerator at Point 1 (ATLAS, Switzerland) and Point 5 (CMS, France), by increasing the number of atomic collisions.
