To cope with thesechallenging environmental conditions, the strip tracker of the CMSexperiment will be upgraded using modules with two closely-spacedsilicon sensors to provide information to include tracking in theLevel-1 trigger selection. This paper describes the performance, ina test beam experiment, of the first prototype module based on thefinal version of the CMS Binary Chip front-end ASIC before and afterthe module was irradiated with neutrons.
