Abstract | This note summarises the LHC Machine Development (MD) 4044, which studied the beam-loss and quench behaviour during asynchronous beam dumps at injection and at top energy using bunched beam in the abort gap. The main MD results are presented together with energy-deposition studies and calculations of the relevant quench limits. |
