Abstract | We report the test results of the second short model magnet of the beam separation dipole for the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider. The test shows that the second model has a good training performance and is capable of operating at the ultimate current that corresponds to 108% of the nominal one. Magnetic field measurements reveal that $b_3$is around 18 units, which is 15 units higher than the calculations. This can be explained in part by geometrical coil deformation caused during the construction process. |
