Abstract The LHC has been successfully operated at 6.5 TeV during 2015. An analysis of the critical parts of the standard operational cycle has been made, aiming at increasing the performance and the efficiency of the machine. An outlook at the changes that will be faced in 2016 operation is given, with particular attention at some possible scenarios.
