One of the things I love most about my job is exploring trends that are shaping Canada and the world and developing products that help our clients remain competitive. Our #AI workshop product is a great example of that. We've now road-tested it with several teams and it's been getting rave reviews. Kudos to Anna VanDuzer & Michael Mahoney who really put their minds and hearts into this product. Our workshop provides the tools you need to make good decisions around how to (or not to) integrate AI into your work streams. A couple weeks I complained the most in-person events sucked. Meeting new people was difficult, if not impossible. So, it's time to walk the walk. Today I had the privilege of speaking to the amazing managers and directors of the City of Hamilton. I shared strategies, ideas, and stories, all built around the belief that delivering expectational customer experiences should not be limited to for-profit organizations. In fact, for municipalities, creating great customer experiences can often deliver even more positive results. Some of the most impactful results of delivering fulfilling customer experiences for any branch of government: More efficient use of resources Reduced staff stress and attrition Improved citizen participation in city run events People becoming more active in their communities It’s important to remember that at its very core, customer experience is not about sales or business growth. It’s about human beings communicating with each other in ways that creates trust and builds relationships. And it doesn’t matter what the industry is. I absolutely love this quote from one of Canada's strategy GOATs, Roger Martin. Far too often we make obvious decisions thinking those were great strategic choices, when in fact they were simply operating imperatives. If you're not sacrificing something of value, you're not making tough choices. Listen, if you’re a business owner or leader: Avoid: >> Using too much jargon. >> Trying to be everything to everyone. >> Changing your core message too often. >> Focusing only on your product/service. Instead: >> Keep it clear and concise. >> Tailor your message to your key audience. >> Let your message evolve naturally as your business grows. >> Focus on how you're the solution to the problem/pain point.
