It still remains unclear when CIRB will make their decision regarding if a Rail strike will "endanger public safety."   🌍 Container Trade Seeing Pandemic Like Conditions as Rates Increase At the TOC Europe 2024 conference, experts warned of rising spot freight rates due to ongoing issues like the Red Sea crisis and regional port congestion. Xeneta's chief analyst, Peter Sand, noted that these problems, combined with pandemic-like demand spikes, are causing significant rate increases, with another hike expected in mid-June. Analysts pointed to rising vessel charter costs as evidence that these issues will likely persist.   💼 US Supply Chain Preparing For a Stress Test as Imports Hit Highs US imports are set to hit their highest levels in two years, challenging supply chain resilience. The Global Port Tracker from the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates forecasts a surge in box traffic at US ports, driven by consumer spending and retailer restocking. Ben Hackett noted strong growth, especially on the west coast, reminiscent of the 2021/22 logjams.
