Since 2021, True North Aid’s "A Good Night’s Sleep" program (in collaboration with Silk & Snow) has provided vital sleep essentials to remote Indigenous communities across Canada. Together, we have aided 27 communities and distributed over 750 sleep sets. This past summer, we were invited by Bloodvein River First Nation in northern Manitoba to help deliver mattresses, bed frames, pillows, and sheets to members of the community. We witnessed firsthand the profound impact this initiative has on the community and were deeply moved by the people we met, and the stories we listened to. We are proud to share some of the stories from the individuals impacted by the "A Good Night's Sleep" program in Bloodvein, and hope these stories will inspire further support for True North Aid's crucial humanitarian efforts. Thoughtfully crafted from natural solid Rubberwood sourced from central Asia, this collection is not only beautiful to look at, but made to stand the test of time. At Silk & Snow, we’ve always had an appreciation and respect for quality craftsmanship. From our Canadian-made mattresses to our Portuguese-made bedding, we’ve never shied away from our passion for the details and quality that artisans impart in the fine works they produce. With this in mind, we wanted to create a collaborative collection that stood as a testament to our brand principles of quality materials and craftsmanship. However, it was also important for us to collaborate with a local artisan who shared our passion - that’s when we discovered Tamara “Solem” Al-Issa of Solem Ceramics. Tamara is a Toronto-based artist and ceramicist with an inkling for storytelling through her unique handcrafted pieces. We loved the passion she demonstrated in all of her works - and we felt as though her work with organic shapes and rich colours would fit nicely into Silk & Snow’s established product offerings. Supporting a local artist was just the icing on the cake. With that being said, we’re pleased to announce our limited collection of 100 vases in collaboration with Solem Ceramics.
