Climate resilience advocate and Passive House Specialist, Monte Paulsen, passed away on June 22, 2024. Monte worked with RDH from 2016 to 2023 and was instrumental in establishing our position as leaders in the Passive House space. Monte was passionate about addressing climate change in the built environment, lighting up all who knew him with his infectious spirit. He led the industry through education, sharing generously with the building community and in particular with the next generation through his energetic teaching and mentorship. Monte played a key role in leading many large and complex projects to achieve the stringent Passive House certification, paving the way for a new standard of energy and carbon performance in buildings in British Columbia and beyond. Monte Paulsen will be dearly missed by his friends and colleagues at RDH. We extend our condolences and deepest sympathies to his family, and all those who knew him.

The redesigned structural glass facades for The Museum of Anthropology at The University of British Columbia preserves the original architectural character while enhancing seismic performance. RDH Principals Felix Weber and Brian Hubbs played a crucial role in bringing this project to life. Congrats to the whole project team! - Architect: Nick Milkovich Construction Manager: Heatherbrae Builders Structural Engineer: EQUILIBRIUM.
Had a great time presenting on the re-imagined structural glass facades for UBC’s Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at Facades+ in Vancouver together with Nick Milkovich and Brian Hubbs this week, and visiting the site the next day! The Great Hall truly is a stunning space (photos from my phone just don’t do it justice)!

Congrats on reaching the topping-out stage at the Robert Day Sciences Center at Claremont McKenna College! As the Structural Engineer for the façade systems, we're proud to have contributed to this innovative project designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group. This endeavor presented numerous design challenges, pushing our engineering expertise to new heights. Our team supported triangular glass and steel truss web and chord Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete covers using a unitized curtain wall approach with minimal joints, ensuring structural integrity in a highly seismic region. We are incredibly grateful for the collaboration and dedication of our partners, Kawneer Company, Inc. and Aragon Construction . Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of structural engineering and contribute to the creation of iconic buildings like this one! #StructuralEngineering #FacadeDesign #RDH #ClaremontMcKennaCollege #BjarkeIngelsGroup #SeismicDesign #Innovation #Architecture
