We are proud to announce that today marks our third project in the last year with Bridgestone Americas in celebration of #AmericaRecyclesDay! Today, volunteers will help to construct a new state-of-the-art playground using Liberty’s recycled rubber playground materials for one of Nashville’s oldest affordable housing buildings. Nashville’s Cheatham Place, home to hundreds of families, no longer had a functional space for young residents to play. Bridgestone Americas, Liberty Tire Recycling, KABOOM!, the Nashville Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, the Nashville Predators Foundation, and others are coming together to create a new play space for hundreds of families using all recycled materials. This project follows two other joint efforts between Bridgestone and Liberty Tire Recycling to refurbish local Nashville playgrounds. In June 2024, Liberty donated recycled mulch to Nashville First Steps, Inc., a United Way partner, to refurbish a community playground. Bridgestone Americas teammates volunteered to install the rubberized mulch, enhancing the playground’s safety and sustainability for local children. In November 2023, volunteers from Youth Encouragement Services (YES), the Nashville Predators Foundation, and nine local companies, including Bridgestone Americas, built a playground for YES to create a safe and creative space that serves 2,000 Nashville kids. Liberty continues to support this project by donating recycled rubber mulch to enhance and maintain the space. The rubber used in these projects is made from 100% recycled material. Additionally, rubber mulch is one of the highest rated safe surfaces for playgrounds, providing protection against falls up to 14 feet high. It also has environmental benefits, as rubber mulch lasts 12x longer than wood mulch. These collective projects involved more than 60,000 pounds of recycled rubber mulch, playground borders, and rubber mats—providing a safe, healthy, and sustainable play space for thousands of Nashville families. We look forward to more partnerships in the future that benefit our communities using American-made #recycled products!

Liberty Tire Recycling is pleased to report that in 2023 we collected a total of 205,814,488 tires. That’s enough tires to circle the globe 3.7 times! This massive result has increased our industry-leading utilization rate from 74.4% in 2022 to nearly 80% in 2023. End-of-life tires continue to find end uses at a higher rate than glass, plastic, aluminum, metal, and paper. While we take a moment to celebrate this achievement, we are committed to continuing to increase these rates in pursuit of our #ZeroWaste goal: ensuring that 100% of the tires we collect enter end-use markets by 2030. As always, our progress would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of Liberty Tire Recycling employees at every level of our organization across North America. Thank you for #DrivingAGreenerTomorrow with us! Read more about our Zero Waste Goal in our 2023 #ESG Report: https://lnkd.in/eTxTyMa8

Our decades of partnership with Walmart demonstrate a prime example of #circularity: the tires we collect from Walmart and Sam's Club Service Centers are repurposed into recycled rubber products, like rubber mulch and garden edging, that go right back onto shelves at those stores. “When people talk about circular recycling, this is what it is all about,” said Amy Brackin, Senior Vice President of Sustainability at Liberty Tire Recycling. Liberty Tire Recycling was excited to present at Walmart’s Annual Sustainability Milestone Summit last month, where we exhibited several of our sustainable, innovative recycled rubber products including parking stops, pavers, garden edging, mulch, playground mats, tree rings and more. We’re proud to be #DrivingAGreenerTomorrow with Walmart! Read more about our ongoing collaboration from Rubber News: https://lnkd.in/eVxAkdmt

This year, Liberty Tire Recycling hosted a months-long series of events supporting Blessings in a Backpack, raising a total of $87,805 to help end childhood hunger. Childhood food insecurity is a critical issue affecting an estimated 13.4 million children across the country. While programs exist to support free meals to school aged children during the week, Blessings in a Backpack is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger on the weekends, ensuring that every child has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive every day. Liberty’s efforts included our first ever charity golf tournament at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, six packing events resulting in 5,250 bags of weekend nutrition, and lunch-and-learns at Liberty sites where participants wrote encouraging notes to be included with the weekend nutrition bags. We commend the hard work and generosity of our team members who pitched in to make this effort so impactful. Please take a moment to check out this wonderful organization:

Liberty Tire Recycling’s extensive fleet of more than 500 trucks is a critical aspect of our #recycling efforts. It also an area that presents opportunity to improve our operational efficiency. Route-optimization efforts in 2023 proved successful in streamlining our fleet efficiency: In Hebron, Ohio, we eliminated 214,503 miles traveled delivering material by moving the operation closer to our collection and processing location. In Northern California, we were able to eliminate 1.1 million annualized miles traveled by shifting our production location which allowed us to reduce our daily loads by 75% on a single route. Exciting news out of Floyd County, Georgia! A test strip of Terhune Road resurfaced with our SmartMIX rubber-modified asphalt (RMA) has proven successful since the project’s completion in July. The county’s Public Works department is planning to apply for another grant to incorporate RMA in a longer paving project on a bigger road later this year. By incorporating recycled rubber into the asphalt mix, SmartMIX diverts hundreds of tires from landfills for every mile of paving, while extending the longevity of the pavement and reducing maintenance costs compared to traditional asphalt. As Liberty Tire Recycling sources many end-of-life tires from collection events held in Floyd County, this project is a spectacular example of how our commitment to driving a circular economy directly benefits communities and their surrounding environment. A key highlight of our 2023 #ESG findings: nearly 80% of the tires we collect are diverted from landfills to be reclaimed, reused, repurposed and recycled. If you’ve been following Liberty Tire Recycling, you’ve probably seen a few of our #RecyclingRoundups on social media. These community clean-up events are an integral part of our #ESG commitments to Engaging People and Communities and Accelerating Environmental Stewardship. We proudly partner with communities, public works departments and environmental organizations to host tire clean ups across North America. In 2023, Liberty Tire Recycling performed 544 tire recycling events across 24 states, diverting 29,050 tons of end-of-life-tires from landfills and illegal dump sites. Tires can place a huge strain on landfills, and illegal dump sites pose numerous hazards to health and well-being of humans, animals and plants. Instead, we process these tires into innovative, sustainable recycled products like rubberized asphalt, turf, mulch and more.
