Yesterday at #COP29, we hosted a panel at the UK Pavilion called 'Making Sustainable Trade Flow', which brought together industry leaders including Lord Adair Turner, Chair of Energy Transitions Commission, Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, Bernice Lee, Hoffmann Distinguished Fellow for Sustainability at Chatham House and Holger Rothenbusch, Managing Director for British International Investment. The session was moderated by Nicholas Mazzei, Vice President, Sustainability - Europe. The discussion delved into how businesses can drive global sustainable trade, from rethinking supply chains to accelerating electrification across logistics. It provided a powerful platform for us to share knowledge, learnings and best practices while driving meaningful conversations on the future of sustainable trade. DP World is responsible for handling 10% of all containerised global trade. Therefore, we have an essential role to play in fostering a sustainable, resilient trade ecosystem – not just for today, but for the future. This week, I am representing DP World at the COP29 UN Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan where I’ll be collaborating with industry leaders and engaging in critical discussions focused on addressing the climate crisis. For DP World, COP29 is an opportunity to reinforce our climate ambitions and demonstrate our commitment to creating resilient and sustainable global supply chains. Since COP28, we have made significant strides across a number of pioneering and innovative sustainability projects, such as the Modal Shift Programme, which has saved over 17,000 tonnes of CO2 in the UK by helping customers switch from truck to rail for freight, and the First Movers Coalition, where we have introduced two hybrid diesel-electric vessels through P&O Ferries and have signed an agreement for two methanol-capable feeder vessels with Unifeeder Group. In the days ahead, I look forward to collaborating with representatives across all sectors and industries, to sharing new ideas, experiences and best practices, and to highlighting DP World’s own sustainability journey and how we are working with customers to offer sustainable supply chain solutions. We're looking back at the Genesis Championship in Incheon, South Korea: the final event in the Back 9 of the DP World Tour and co-sanctioned with the KPGA Tour. With our strong ties to Busan Port and South Korea's key role in both golf and the regional trade landscape, this tournament holds unique significance. It was a pleasure to host and engage with many of our customers and colleagues at the stunning Jack Nicklaus Golf Course and watch a strong field of 90 DP World Tour and 30 KPGA Tour players.
