Canadian North was at the 17th annual golf tournament put on by Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit (HFHIQ) on August 23 in Gatineau, QC. The event raised more than $50,000 to help build stronger, healthier communities in the north. Canadian North has proudly supported HFHIQ and been the official airline sponsor of this tournament from the beginning. This year, our President and CEO Shelly De Caria was on hand to show our support and present flight certificates for a fundraising auction. We’re proud to support initiatives that create affordable, quality housing, which is proven to enhance health, education and emotional well-being. It also supports economic growth and vibrant communities, matching our commitment to making lives better in the communities we serve. Congratulations to HFHIQ and organizer Outcrop Communications Ltd. on a successful tournament! We look forward to supporting this event again in 2025.

Checking-in from the flight deck ✈️ Yesterday, Captain Michael Innuksuk (Right), First Officer Joseph Akulujuk (left) and Flight Attendant Vanessa Kilabuk (centre) made up an all-Inuit flight crew on route from Iqaluit to Kinngait. The crew are a great example of the Canadian North story; Captian Innuksuk has been with us for 30 years and FA Kilabuk started with us in June this year! You also may recognize FO Akulujuk, we featured him earlier this year across social media when he joined the team.

August 6 is a big day at Canadian North, as we welcomed the first cohort of trainees into our brand-new flight simulator! Housed in Canadian North’s new 30,000-square-foot training facility in Edmonton, our latest-generation 737NG FFS ensures reliable access for pilots to invaluable training sessions. From mastering flight deck procedures, including emergency checklists, to performing a variety of flying scenarios, this simulator serves as an indispensable tool for pilots to develop and hone their skills. Nathan DuLong and Nick Powers were the first trainees in the cockpit, with instructor Scott Hyslop leading the session. As we continue to upgrade our fleet, Canadian North now has the capacity to meet all Boeing 737NG training requirements. The facility will also have additional capacity to service other 737NG operators and airlines. To reserve simulator training times, interested parties can make requests through Canadian North’s website. This training facility was made possible thanks to Canadian North’s valued partners: CAE, Executive Flight Centre, and the Edmonton International Airport (YEG).

On Wednesday, we proudly unveiled our brand-new NG 737 Full-Flight Simulator at our new 30,000 sq.ft. Training Centre at Edmonton International Airport (YEG) International Airport (YEG). This state-of-the-art CAE 7000XR simulator marks a significant advancement in our training capabilities. This simulator is a crucial addition to the Canadian aviation industry, addressing the growing demand for pilot training. It allows pilots to maintain and enhance their skills locally, offering comprehensive training from emergency procedures to various flight scenarios. Moreover, this facility addresses the urgent need for additional flight simulator capacity in Canada amidst an ongoing pilot shortage. It reinforces our commitment to long-term success and reliability in aviation training. We extend our warmest thank you to our partners at CAE Edmonton International Airport, and EFC Developments Ltd. for their support in making this facility a reality. We are also grateful to Elder Maina Manniapik for providing a blessing and lighting a qulliq to help us inaugurate this important addition to our training facility. Thank you to everyone who joined us on this special day. Together, we’re shaping the future of aviation training in Canada and making life better in the communities we serve.
