The leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman took part on a program on BRT and evaluated the 5 + 1 meeting that took place in Geneva and reminded that they will meet again in July.
Noting that the appointment of a personal representative is an important development, Erhürman question whether or not these steps will lead us to a comprehensive solution, claiming it’s too early to say.
He emphasized that even the worst diplomacy environment is better than no dialogue.
Pointing out that a result such as “We went with zero, we came back with one” may emerge, Erhürman stated that the situation in question should not be evaluated negatively.
He stated that the Cyprus problem is still on the agenda of the United Nations at the current stage and said, “Dialogue is not a negative situation for the Turkish Cypriot people”.
Reminding that practices contrary to human rights continue in the issue of mixed marriages, Erhürman stated that problems can only be solved through diplomacy and dialogue.
