About us
We are one of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of marine-based LNG midstream infrastructure – active in the liquefaction, transportation and regasification of natural gas. Golar’s vision is to break the mould in LNG. We aim to use our marine expertise and innovative floating LNG assets to provide the most competitive LNG solution to monetise natural gas reserves and deliver LNG. Golar’s flexible, low-cost, fast-track LNG-based solutions are designed to thrive in a low commodity price environment. From well to grid – we’re building on our 40+ years’ LNG midstream experience and progressing plans to grow our business further upstream via OneLNG, our floating liquefaction joint venture with Schlumberger and downstream via Golar Power, our joint venture with Stonepeak for the ownership and operation of floating storage and regasification units and power generation infrastructure. Golar LNG Limited is listed on the Nasdaq stock market. (Nasdaq:GLNG) The Golar fleet comprises 26 vessels, encompassing assets owned and operated by ourselves, Golar LNG Partners and Golar Power. We operate three types of vessels: • LNG carriers (LNGCs) – 10 newbuilds, 6 modern ships • Floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) – 4 converted LNGCs, 3 newbuilds • Floating liquefaction vessels (FLNGs) – 1 under conversion, 2 candidates for conversion Our two most significant innovations have been: • The world’s first FSRU conversion, the Golar Spirit – which went into operation in 2008 • The world’s first FLNG conversion, the Hilli Episeyo – which will go into operation in 2017 Golar employs around 1,500 people and we are growing rapidly. We are an equal opportunities employer. We have an international workforce both at sea and on shore and have offices in the UK, Norway, Croatia, Malaysia, Brazil, and Cameroon. Golar LNG signs agreement for 20-year FLNG deployment in Argentina Golar LNG Ltd. has entered into definitive agreements with Pan American Energy (“PAE”) for a 20-year deployment of a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (“FLNG”) vessel in Argentina. The FLNG project will monetize Argentine gas, tapping into the vast resources from the Vaca Muerta shale formation in the Neuquina Basin, the world's second-largest shale gas resources. The project is expected to start LNG exports within 2027, establishing Argentina as an LNG exporter. This strategic venture is built on a robust commercial foundation, featuring: (i) a Gas Sales Agreement from PAE for the supply of gas; and (ii) an FLNG charter agreement with Golar which includes a base tariff and commodity exposure to LNG sales prices. The project aims to utilize Golar’s FLNG Hilli, with a nameplate capacity of 2.45 million tons per annum (“mtpa”), providing an equivalent net tariff of US$2.6/mmBtu (based on 90% capacity utilization) with an additional commodity-linked pricing element. Golar has flexibility to consider a swap alternative for another suitable Golar FLNG unit. As part of the agreements, Golar will hold a 10% stake in Southern Energy S.A., a dedicated joint venture with PAE, responsible for the purchase of domestic natural gas, operations, and sale and marketing of LNG volumes from Argentina.
