Youth football player and social media personality Madden San Miguel, better known as Baby Gronk, has "committed" to South Carolina.

Of course, there's a lot to go over here.

Believe it or not, there isn't a minimum age requirement for schools to give verbal offers to potential student-athletes. However, per the On3 database, it doesn't appear that Baby Gronk has received any (despite a previous claim of getting one from Arizona).

Second, Baby Gronk has "committed" to the following schools since May 28, per his X account: South Carolina, Texas, USC, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Nebraska. Based on that history, this appears to be a rather unserious commitment.

Third, Baby Gronk's father, Jake San Miguel, is likely behind all of this, with the caveat that his son could land a college football scholarship on his own merit down the road.

Lauren Mechling of the Guardian explained in June 2023:

"Baby Gronk, an unarguably skilled athlete, whose real name is Madden San Miguel and who lives in the Dallas area, is the son of Jake San Miguel, a digital marketer who makes no secret of his thirst for internet fame. A modern-day Mama Rose of the football field, San Miguel Sr – who manages his son's social media accounts, schedule and persona – has exhibited no qualms inserting himself into the Baby Gronk narrative."

In summation: There hasn't been any real commitment here, and Baby Gronk will likely be "committing" to another school shortly given the recent pattern.
