    After graduating from Cairo University in accounting in 1977, I joined the 'Fakhro Establishment for Accounting and Auditing' (this was the first national accounting and auditing firm established in Bahrain in 1968). The firm then was focusing on national work and clients and had just a few over 15 employees. I worked along with the founding partners of the firm (Jassim Fakhro and Hussain Kasim) to build our alliance with a global firm and succeeded in becoming the national representative firm…

    After graduating from Cairo University in accounting in 1977, I joined the 'Fakhro Establishment for Accounting and Auditing' (this was the first national accounting and auditing firm established in Bahrain in 1968). The firm then was focusing on national work and clients and had just a few over 15 employees. I worked along with the founding partners of the firm (Jassim Fakhro and Hussain Kasim) to build our alliance with a global firm and succeeded in becoming the national representative firm of KMG in 1982. In 1988 we led the negotiation of merging the operations of Fakhro Establishment and Peat Marwick to establish KPMG Fakhro in Bahrain.

      The Bahrain Shura Council (Majlis al-shura) is the name given to the upper house of the National Assembly, the main legislative body of Bahrain. The Council comprises forty members appointed directly by the King of Bahrain. The forty seats of the Consultative Council combined with the forty elected seats of the Council of Representatives form the National Assembly of Bahrain. All laws (except for "Royal decrees") have to be passed by both chambers of the Assembly.

    Arab Parliamentary Union

    SHURA Council first vice-chairman Jamal Fakhro won the Outstanding Arab Parliamentarian Award. He was presented with his award at Arab Parliamentary Union’s 23rd conference by president and Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
