Last week, we joined A W Edwards and VSL Australia on an Aboriginal Cultural Tour at Barangaroo Reserve to learn more about the native history of Warrane (Sydney Harbour) and the importance of the land to Australia’s Aboriginal heritage and its significance to the clans of the Eora Nation. 🌳 Mark Greenhill OAM

Over the previous few months VSL Australia have worked with an Indigenous Artist to include her design on our local collateral. As we wrap up #NRW2024, VSL are proud to present the beautiful Indigenous Artwork by the talented Janet Long Nakamarra of the Ngurlu people, Anninie on her traditional homelands of Warntapari, near Willowra Community in Central Australia. Seed Dreaming (Ngurlu), Wet Season, 2021 The Ngurlu, also known as the Ngulutjara or Ngurlutjarra, are an Aboriginal Australian people of Western Australia. In this image Janet has painted the story of the seeds that women collect after termites hollow out the base of the plants and weaken their leaves. In the middle of the image, a Peewee (a small native bird) looks at his reflection in a pool of water, whilst around him women (small 'U' shape in white and grey) move, collecting the seeds, gathering at campsites, and dancing the story of the peewee and the termites that sustain him. The small yellow circles depict the bread that women bake out of flour which is ground from the collected seeds. The women themselves are the ‘U’ shapes seen in groups of two in the middle and four around the canvas edges. The white lines reflect the dreaming that the women paint onto their bodies whilst they dance their stories. This dreaming shows the coexistence and interdependence of humans, animals, and elements. The water at the centre of the image is feeding each being in this work, and whilst the Peewee is feeding on the termites, the action of the termites sustains the women and their community by proving easily harvested food. On Monday and Tuesday the team in Sydney kicked off Health and Safety week at VSL with three sessions designed to engage employees from all faucets of the business on all things health and safety. At VSL we love life and our proactive safety culture is something we are very proud of. Over the two days our team got to grips with our Major Risks and Lifesaving Rules and undertook an interactive session learning about Human Error and the science behind it. In our last session, Site Engineer Max-Terrell Gbaguidi received a health and safety award for going above and beyond. Congrats Max! Your positivity and care for your colleagues is truly appreciated👏
