We're pleased to launch the First Nations VR Truth-Telling Documentary Initiative, designed to uncover distinctive WA First Nations voices, support their career progression and enable practitioners to explore new story-telling mediums and markets. Successful teams will be provided with up to $150,000 production funding each to produce a short VR documentary. The trailer has just dropped for WA feature film HE AIN'T HEAVY! Written and directed by David Vincent Smith and produced by Jess Parker of No Labels, the film sees a desperate woman kidnap and enforce rehab on her violent brother in a last-ditch effort to save their lives. Screenwest provides successful West Coast Visions recipients with production funding of $750,000 and since 2023, Screen Australia has pre-committed $500,000 in equity to the initiative. End to End follows a middle-aged couple who activate a long-held promise to hike Western Australia’s Bibbulmun Track – a last chance to determine the fate of their struggling marriage.
