Our purpose is to provide a sustainable future for the Western Australian racing industry, spanning thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing. Our commitment is ingrained in the profound economic and social value racing brings to our state, collectively contributing a remarkable $1.3 billion to the local economy, half of which is generated in regional communities. Beyond the economic facets, racing stands as a unifying force, fostering social connections and offering vital support to the 25,000 participants and volunteers, while simultaneously sustaining over 10,000 full-time jobs for Western Australians.

    There's no better vantage to watch races at Port Hedland than the Port Hedland Community Centre, overlooking the finishing post of the iconic dirt-grass racetrack. 🏇🏇 While the state-of-the-art facility offers the best seat in the house on race days, it also serves as a bustling hub for community events, meetings and functions throughout the year. This shared infrastructure showcases the power of collaboration in regional WA, with racing driving both social and economic benefits for our communities. We caught up with the Town of Port Hedland to learn more about the facility which is utilised by many community groups, including the Port Hedland Turf Club.

    We're excited to unveil our new digital platform, racingwa.com.au, the ultimate destination for WA racing information and data. Watch as Chief Racing Officer David Hunter takes us through the new website and its enhanced, user-friendly connection between content and data. Special shout out to Connie Bristow-Stagg and Richard Quance for their work on this project so far. Next, we'll work to enhance harness race data with profile pages and integrate greyhound racing data, completing the website's comprehensive coverage of WA's three racing codes.

    Located at Gantheaume Point, a stone's throw from the iconic Cable Beach and surrounded by the stunning Indian Ocean, the Broome Racecourse is one of the best-located racetracks in Australia, if not the world. Broome business owners are expecting an influx of visitors for tomorrow's TABtouch Broome Sprint at the Broome Turf Club and Saturday’s Broome Cup. With racing in the Kimberley generating about $22.9 million for the WA economy annually, Matt Sharp, owner of Broome’s Roebuck Roadhouse, said the town's racing season played a crucial role in driving local economic growth.     Racing WA and the Seven Network have today agreed to a new multi-year partnership to showcase Western Australian thoroughbred racing live and free on the screens of Seven. From 16 September 2024, all thoroughbred race meetings in Western Australia will be broadcast live and free on the Seven Network’s digital streaming platform, 7plus. “This partnership with Seven marks a fantastic opportunity for the WA racing industry,” Racing and Wagering Western Australia CEO Ian Edwards said.     One of Australia's most popular racing carnivals gets underway next week in Broome! Thousands of racegoers are expected to attend Tuesday's Broome Sprint on August 20 and the Broome Cup on Saturday, August 24, at one of the best-located racetracks in the country, set against the stunning backdrop of Cable Beach. The Broome Turf Club's racing carnival makes a significant contribution to the Kimberley economy each year, drawing many visitors who come together to enjoy a day trackside.     While the Pilbara is renowned for mining, the vast region – which spans more than 500,000sqkm – is not just the home of iron ore but also top-quality racing. Up to 2000 racegoers are set to attend the Port Hedland Turf Club this Sunday for the Port Hedland Cup. Port Hedland boasts one of the most unique racecourses in the nation, featuring a dual surface of 1100m of firm pindan dirt which seamlessly transitions to 700m of lush grass in the home straight.     From the saddle to an office desk, or behind the barriers in Broome to multi-million-dollar stud farms in New South Wales, Kelly Chapman is enjoying her ride in racing. 🏇🏇 On weekdays, Kelly is a Customer Service Officer at Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s Osborne Park head office, while she can also be found at times at regional racecourses across the State working as a barrier attendant. “The two roles are definitely very different, but I really enjoy both of them,” Kelly said.     The 2000 racegoers at yesterday’s TABtouch Roebourne Cup were greeted by a “blue-tiful” visual reminder to check in with family and friends. As part of the Racing WA Community Fund partnership with the Blue Tree Project, Nor West Jockey Club members, Racing WA and the Blue Tree Project came together to paint the metal tree at the iconic Pilbara racecourse to spread the message “it’s OK to not be OK”. A special thanks to the Nor West Jockey Club, Member for Pilbara Kevin Michel, Blue Tree Project founder Kendall Whyte, RWWA Board Member Colin Holt and the industry participants in attendance for helping make the day possible.

    The thrill of Pilbara racing will be on full-display this Saturday at the Roebourne Cup. The Nor West Jockey Club will be hosting the annual feature meeting which is again set to draw racegoers from far and wide to the iconic regional track. The Roebourne Cup is one of the premier events in the Pilbara social calendar, with racing in the region contributing $17.8 million to the WA economy each year and sustaining about 140 full-time jobs.
