Relationships are always more important than money. Hands down. Whether it's in sales or people you're doing business with, or even people you may not be doing business with yet but you may in the future. Nurturing relationships without expectation will always pay off in the end. This is something that I learnt during my coffee chat with Alex Roberts today, where we also shared our business journey and I learnt a little bit about the recruitment sector at the same time! Did you know that even if a company is hiring and desperate for staff, it may still take them a while to trust you enough to hire for them? Here are a couple of my key takeaways: ✨ Just because someone isn't in need of your business or services right now, doesn't mean that they never will be ✨ Regardless of where someone is at, always take the time to nurture the relationship and add value, so that when they are in need, you will be top of mind for them! ✨ It's far easier to sell more or charge more to those who already trust you vs. new clients - so treat every existing client relationship like GOLD, instead of chasing new "shiny objects" ✨ It's okay to say no to people, and in fact it is vitally important. Never over-commit and avoid being a people-pleaser. It only hurts you in the end ✨ It's better to give HIGH quality to a smaller number of people than to give AVERAGE quality to a huge number of people Of course, there are far more than I can share - but these were the true gold nuggets. For those of you who don't know Alex Roberts, he and his team over at MAP TALENT were massively helpful to me in my job search during the pandemic. I met Alex back in 2020, and time and time again he and the legends over at MAP Talent have always given 200% to their clients and the people they work with. For those of you looking for a job in the tech/software space, Alex Roberts is the man to speak to! Thank you very much for your time today Alex.
