High cholesterol, often referred to as the ‘silent disease’ due to its lack of noticeable symptoms, is a critical risk factor for heart attack and stroke. For the 2.1 million Australians impacted by high cholesterol, the risks often go unnoticed. Left untreated, plaque continues to silently builds up in your blood vessels, potentially leading to serious complications. 🚨It’s important to speak to your GP about a heart check to understand your risks of high cholesterol and ways you can prevent and manage the condition. That’s why this week, we’ve partnered with #HeartbeatofSport and #HeartSupportAustralia to bring free heart screenings to your doorstep. If you’re in Adelaide, come along to the VAILO Adelaide 500 from 14 – 17 November for a FREE cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure screening. You will also have the opportunity to speak to a nurse about your results and receive personalised guidance on managing your health. We all have it, we all need it—but what is cholesterol and how does it impact our heart health? From 11 to 17 November, join hearts4heart Heart Support Australia and Heartbeat of Football Foundation in our launch of Australia’s inaugural Cholesterol Awareness Week! The week aims to raise awareness of high cholesterol, its risks and the potential impact it can have on your life. #Didyouknow that high ‘bad’ low-density lipoprotein (or LDL) cholesterol: 💡Can build up in your blood vessels and cause blockages that can lead to heart attack or stroke 💡Is often referred to as a ‘silent disease’ due to its lack of noticeable symptoms 💡Is associated with certain lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet, lack of physical activity and alcohol consumption. Other risk factors include family history, age and certain comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity. 💡Can be prevented and managed by getting regular blood tests to identify your LDL cholesterol levels If you want to learn more about high cholesterol, stay tuned to our social media channels or visit https://lnkd.in/gC-uyD4i 🌟 If you’re in Adelaide, visit our stall at the VAILO Adelaide 500 (14 – 17 November) to get a FREE heart health check of your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. You will also have the opportunity to talk to a nurse about your results and receive personalised advice on managing your health. #hearts4heart #CholesterolAwarenessWeek #heartbeatofsport #heartsupportaustralia #highcholesterol #heartdisease #hearthealth #heartcheck

At #Hearts4heart we recognise there is growing need to advocate for all Australians who are either living with or impacted by heart conditions. Now more than ever, we are committed to driving awareness and advocacy to drive change that can help enhance health outcomes for all Australians affected by heart disease.
