The Queensland Court of Appeal has published its judgment in Bilson v Vatsonic Communications Pty Ltd; Vatsonic Communications Pty Ltd v Bilson [2024] QCA 171. One of the key issues on appeal was the application of section 236B of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003. The Court of Appeal ultimately found that section 236B did apply, and had the effect of not requiring the Employer/WorkCover of indemnifying a third party pursuant to a contract entered into between the Employer and the Third Party. Our experts review the decision in this case. Read more: https://bit.ly/3zxGOV3 #dwf #australia #insurance #legal

On Saturday night DWF was thrilled to partner once again with Clique Brisbane Limited and Circle 0 for Riverfire 2024, hosting an event in our Brisbane office to view the spectacular ADF aerial displays and the amazing Riverfire fireworks! This year we were joined by the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust in supporting a fantastic night of fun for young adults with disabilities. Clique is a not-for-profit organisation that hosts social events and dance parties in a supported environment for teenagers and young adults with disabilities. DWF was honoured to continue our annual tradition of hosting an evening of entertainment, food and dancing, shared with family and friends of DWF, to allow young people with disabilities to take part in Riverfire in a safe, supportive and fun environment. The DWF approach to diversity and inclusion aims to create an environment and culture where everyone is able to contribute and where differences have a positive impact for our colleagues, clients, and communities. We hope that all of our Riverfire guests felt welcome as part of the DWF community! Special thanks to all involved in organising this exceptional evening, particularly DWF Principal Lawyer Anthony Forrester, DWF Senior Associate Gabriella Crow and DWF Associate Ashleigh O'Connor. Please enjoy the photos of this special event: https://bit.ly/3Tjp0DI #dwf #australia #diversity #inclusion
