What does it take to be a good leader?   "Listen more than you talk, be curious, be humble and be comfortable with discomfort; that's where the learning happens.”    That's what Kat Hartmann, our General Manager Digital & Customer Experience, has to say about good leadership, after a career that has spanned media, retail, airlines and now the banking industry.    She is now applying this knowledge at ANZ, where she heads up the teams responsible for shaping up our digital offering to small-to-medium business customers.    Kat shares what she’s learnt here 👇    Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gHxpXFdm

Feel like you’re plateauing in your job?    Adelle McDonald, ANZ Engineer, shares her advice on how to boost your confidence and reach your career goals, even when you’re experiencing what she calls a ‘career slump’.    “When my role changed, early in my career, I went from having black and white metrics of success to shades of grey. There was no clear path forward for me,” said Adelle.   Here’s how she overcame it.    📣 Embrace self-promotion. Managers often can’t see the daily contributions of their team members. Speaking up about your success is not just about seeking praise, but ensuring people who value our work are given the opportunity to hear about it.    👩💻 Share your work with others. Engineering allows us to create and make an impact, but our attachment to our work can hinder sharing. Openly sharing your work can lead to new connections and new ideas, it can even help you find a mentor.    🤝 Draw inspiration from your role models. Some role models inspire us through their professional achievements, while others guide us with their values; diversity is key to finding guidance that aligns with our circumstances and aspirations. For example, an engineer might find inspiration in a pioneering scientist. While a first-time parent might draw strength from a co-worker and parent of three children.   🔍 Remove barriers to connection. Sometimes cultural barriers, like ‘Tall Poppy Syndrome’ really hurt in large organisations because it can mean remarkable achievements, behaviours and innovations may go unnoticed. What barriers are holding you back?   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g5qe9SGA

It's Grand Final weekend, and even though they didn't quite make it 😉, the ANZ Bank Football Club should be on your radar as a team to support! Their rich history and strong community ties make them a standout choice.    Founded in 1954, a group of ANZ employees started the footy club. Rechristened as the "Falcons" in 1999, the club celebrated its 70th anniversary last month.    Former employee, Paul Shoppee recalls his first week working at ANZ in February 1985, when he turned up to work at the Brandon Park branch as a fresh faced 19-year-old and joined the footy club.     “I spent 33 years, so more than half my life being involved with the club. And 90 per cent of the friends I've got in this world are from my association with the footy club. So, that's why it's so important to me.”    His highlight? Coaching the 2002 reserves grand final winning team – the clubs first piece of silverware since 1974.     “My three kids grew up at the footy club. My son (Clain), played in 2018 when I was coaching. And now my Dad (Peter) is the club's goal umpire and he's 86 years old."    Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gdxtjbpU     Let us know - who are you barracking for in the #AFLGrandFinal this weekend?

As a nation, a growing number of Australians can’t access suitable housing. We are simply not building enough housing to match demand, and the challenges for delivering more social and affordable housing are becoming more complex.   That’s why, under the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund and alongside Housing Australia and the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), we're helping fund Queensland’s largest social and affordable housing project for seniors and people with disability.    The project, located in Cairns, will deliver 490 purpose-built and energy efficient residences, including 245 social housing apartments, 223 affordable homes, and 22 specialist disability accommodation (SDA) apartments.    Mark Whelan, ANZ Group Executive, Institutional, says “ANZ is committed to increasing the supply of social and affordable housing, with a target to fund and facilitate $10 billion of investment in more affordable, accessible and sustainable homes to buy or rent by 2030.”   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gmN6fCCb   Tetris Capital Community Housing Ltd Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works, FCC Construction Australia Modscape Clare O'Neil Anthony Albanese Steven Miles Caryn Kakas

Mental health has a huge impact on every aspect of people's lives. This #RUOKDay, it’s crucial to remember that reaching out and showing support can make a significant difference.          Sarah Soncini, Founder and Chair of our Mental Health Network, exemplifies this commitment.         "Becoming the leader of the ANZ Mental Health Network has been the greatest gift. It has allowed me to become authentically ‘me’ at work. Talking openly about mental health in the workplace is important because it helps remind others that there is help available."        Let’s honor Sarah's leadership by being present for one another, embracing authenticity, and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
