Thank you Alcoa Foundation 🧡 Through a new partnership with Alcoa Foundation and Anglicare WA, our Young Hearts service will see a $750,000 boost in funding over the space of three years! To celebrate the incredible impact this commitment will have, we invited Alcoa representatives to the Anglicare WA Family & Relationship Centre. They were able to hear directly from counsellors who deliver the program and see the space in which it is delivered, touring counselling rooms and outdoor gardens. Young Hearts is a free service that provides critical counselling for young people and their families who have experienced family and domestic violence. In the last twelve months the service supported 170 children in Kwinana, Rockingham and Mandurah. This was made possible through the 567 counselling sessions that took place across the year. "Young Hearts relies entirely on the continued support and generosity of philanthropic partners like Alcoa Foundation." said Anglicare WA CEO, Mark Glasson, highlighting the positive impact the funding will have. 🔗To learn more about Young Hearts, visit https://buff.ly/4fHqIHY

A big thank you to Albemarle Corporation Australia for their recent community investment grant! 🧡 🙌 The grant enabled the resident Anglicare WA Student Wellbeing Officer (SWO) at Eaton Community College to work with Dismantle Inc., a non-for-profit for young people, and get students involved in their BikeRescue program. 🚲 Our SWO collaborated with staff at the College to identify and support selected high school students to participate. The program mentored a group of Year 8’s and Year 9’s over 10 sessions of stripping and rebuilding recycled bikes. The students were able to rebuild two bikes, donating one and having the opportunity to customise the other. The activities helped to foster resilience and confidence whilst building teamwork and social skills.

#ICYMI Anglicare WA CEO, Mark Glasson, won an award at the Australian Medical Association Awards 🏆 🥳 And "How did that happen?" you ask? 🤔 Our very own Glasso' was the recipient of the President's Award! Each year, the AMA President in Western Australia selects someone from the wider community who is not from the medical field but has made an outstanding contribution to health. He was recognised for his 25 years of experience across a range of human services as well as his role as CEO at Anglicare WA and being elected as President of Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS). Service Manager Conference round up! 🤠 ⭐ Last week, staff from our Goldfields and South West team gathered in Bunbury for two days for their service conference. This year's theme was Djooroobidiny which means '𝐆𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐲, 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞' in Noongar. The team visited Roelands Village for a day of cultural learning, connection and immersion. The property formally Roelands Mission was home to over 500 Stolen Generation children, who were forcibly removed from their families across WA. The team learnt about the farm's history and how it has become a positive place of healing and development for the children of the mission and their families. The following day they explored Anglicare WA's lived experience strategic initiative and heard from Harvey local Joel Whitwell about his journey of resilience and finding the light in times of darkness.
