Where to begin rebuilding your life from the rubble - 18 months after a massive earthquake shook southern Türkiye. Mohammed an engineer and Jamal an artisan, are two of the over three million Syrians that hold temporary protection status in Türkiye, having fled their war-torn homeland. Like so many on that fateful day in February 2023 their livelihoods were shattered. After losing all the tools of their trade they were able to apply for the IOM’s cash grant programme. This grant has enabled the two entrepreneurs to start over again. IOM has been working closely with local authorities on the ground in Türkiye and has assisted 373 entrepreneurs, including 328 in earthquake-affected provinces to purchase items and equipment to rebuild their livelihoods. "They offered me a Job in Georgia, a country I didn't know about, with a good salary in a beauty salon by the beach." Hailing from a small, rural town in Thailand, Amara and her two friends came to Georgia in search of a better life. Upon arrival they were forced into sexual exploitation and were subjected to violence and psychological pressure. Their dreams quickly turned into a nightmare scenario. Human Trafficking remains a pervasive crime, targeting the most vulnerable. IOM has been closely working with the Georgian government to introduce a victim-centered approach to counter trafficking, including protection. With IOM's reintegration grant, Amara and her friends were safely taken back home and given resources to facilitate a fresh start. More still needs to be done. Let's raise our voices and take action to #endhumantrafficking Read more about Amaras story 👉 tinyurl.com/2bkj8wsw
