Nuclear modification factor of neutral pions in the forward and backward regions in $p$-Pb collisions
Abstract: The nuclear modification factor of neutral pions is measured in proton-lead collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon of $8.16~{\rm TeV}$ with the LHCb detector. The $π^0$ production cross section is measured differentially in transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) for $1.5<p_{\rm T}<10.0~{\rm GeV}$ and in center-of-mass pseudorapidity ($η_{\rm c.m.}$) regions $2.5<η_{\rm c.m.}<3.5$ (… ▽ More

Centrality determination in heavy-ion collisions with the LHCb detector
Abstract: The centrality of heavy-ion collisions is directly related to the medium created therein. A procedure to determine the centrality of collisions with the LHCb detector is implemented for lead-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\scriptscriptstyle\text{NN}}}=5\, \mathrm{TeV}$ and lead-neon fixed-target collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\scriptscriptstyle\text{NN}}}=69\, \mathrm{GeV}$. The energy deposits in the elec… ▽ More

Measurement of the nuclear modification factor and prompt charged particle production in $p\mathrm{Pb}$ and $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\scriptscriptstyle\mathrm{NN}}}=5\,\mathrm{TeV}$
Abstract: The production of prompt charged particles in proton-lead collisions and in proton-proton collisions at the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy ${\sqrt{s_{\scriptscriptstyle\mathrm{NN}}}=5\,\mathrm{TeV}}$ is studied at LHCb as a function of pseudorapidity ($η$) and transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) with respect to the proton beam direction. $J/ψ$ photo-production in Pb-Pb peripheral collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5 TeV
Abstract: The photo-production of $J/ψ$ mesons at low transverse momentum is studied in peripheral lead-lead collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 5 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 210 $\rm{μb}^{-1}$. The $J/ψ$ candidates are reconstructed through the prompt decay into two muons of opposite charge in the rapidity region of $2.0<y<4.5$. T… ▽ More

Study of coherent $J/ψ$ production in lead-lead collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5 TeV$
Abstract: Coherent production of $J/ψ$ mesons is studied in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of 5 TeV, using a data sample collected by the LHCb experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about $10 μb^{-1}$. The $J/ψ$ mesons are reconstructed in the dimuon final state and are required to have transverse momentum below 1 GeV. The cross-section withi… ▽ More

Measurement of the prompt-production cross-section ratio $σ(χ_{c2})/σ(χ_{c1})$ in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 8.16 TeV
Abstract: This Letter reports the first measurement of prompt $χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c2}$ charmonium production in nuclear collisions at Large Hadron Collider energies. The cross-section ratio $σ(χ_{c2}) / σ(χ_{c1})$ is measured in $p$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 8.16 TeV, collected with the LHCb experiment. The $χ_{c1,2}$ states are reconstructed via their decay to a $\rm{J}/ψ$ meson, subsequently decaying… ▽ More

New results on jets and heavy flavor in heavy-ion collisions with ALICE
Abstract: The large statistics accumulated during the LHC Run-1 and Run-2 have provided the unique opportunity to study the properties of the Quark-Gluon Plasma using rare hard probes. The ALICE Collaboration has presented new results on the jet shape observables in p--Pb and Pb--Pb collision. Using data from Run-2, the elliptic flow of open and hidden charm mesons have been measured with much better precis… ▽ More

Performance studies of D-meson tagged jets in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7\,\mathrm{TeV}$ with ALICE
Abstract: We present the current status of the measurement of jets that contain a D meson (D-tagged jets) with ALICE. D-meson candidates, identified via their hadronic decay channels, were combined with the other charged tracks reconstructed with the central tracking system, using the anti-$k_{\rm T}$ jet-finding algorithm. The yield of D-tagged jets was extracted through an invariant mass analysis of the D… ▽ More

Combination of two Gas Electron Multipliers and a Micromegas as gain elements for a time projection chamber
Abstract: We measured the properties of a novel combination of two Gas Electron Multipliers with a Micromegas for use as amplification devices in high-rate gaseous time projection chambers. The goal of this design is to minimize the buildup of space charge in the drift volume of such detectors in order to eliminate the standard gating grid and its resultant dead time, while preserving good tracking and part… ▽ More

Measurement of jet $p_{\rm T}$ spectra and $R_{\rm AA}$ in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector
Abstract: Hard-scattered partons provide an ideal probe for the study of the Quark-Gluon Plasma because they are produced prior to the formation of the QCD medium in heavy-ion collisions. Jet production is therefore susceptible to modifications induced by the presence of the medium ("jet quenching"). Both RHIC and LHC experiments have provided compelling evidence of jet quenching. Jets are reconstructed in… ▽ More

Measurement of jet $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ spectra in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=2.76~\mathrm{TeV}$ with the ALICE detector at the LHC
Abstract: Reconstruction of jets in high-energy heavy-ion collisions is challenging due to the large and fluctuating background coming from the underlying event. We report results on full jet reconstruction, obtained from data collected in 2011 by the ALICE detector at LHC for Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=2.76~\mathrm{TeV}$. The analysis makes use of the tracking system and the electromagneti… ▽ More
