The validity range of the time-honored effective range expansion can be very limited due to the presence of a left-hand cut close to the two-particle threshold. Such a left-hand cut arises in the two-particle interaction involving a light particle exchange with a mass small or slightly heavier than the mass difference of the two particles, a scenario encountered in a wide range of systems. This can hinder a precise extraction of low-energy scattering observables and resonance poles. To address this issue, we propose a new parameterization for the low-energy scattering amplitude that accounts for the left-hand cut. The parameterization is like a Padé approximation but with nonanalytic terms from the left-hand cut and can be regarded as an extension of the effective range expansion. It is ready to be applied to a broad class of scatterings and, in particular, should be invaluable in understanding various near-threshold hadron resonances. As byproducts, we also show that the parameterization can be used to extract the couplings of the exchanged particle to the scattering particles, and derive expressions for amplitude zeros caused by the interplay between the short- and long-range interactions.

Evidence of $η_{c}(2S)\toωω$ is found with a statistical significance of $3.2σ$. The branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\toωω)=(5.65\pm3.77(\rm stat.)\pm5.32(\rm syst.))\times10^{-4}$. No statistically significant signal is observed for the decay $η_{c}(2S)\toωφ$. By solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation, possible hadronic molecules in the $D^*\bar K$-$D\bar K^*$ coupled-channel system are investigated with the one-meson exchange potentials, where both vector and pseudoscalar mesons are considered as exchange particles. We find an S-wave virtual state with mass $2472(18)$ MeV, and a resonance with mass $M=2747(31)$ and width $Γ=7(3)$ MeV. In the $D^* \bar K$ invariant mass distribution, the virtual state appears as a cusp at the $D^*\bar K$ threshold, while the resonance potentially manifests as a dip. In particular, we take into account the $D\bar K π$ three-body dynamics due to the on-shell pion exchange and the finite decay widths for $D^*$ and $\bar K^*$. Additionally, the cutoff dependence and the SU(4) breaking effect are investigated in our work. Our results also indicate that the accurate measurement for the decay width of the $D\bar K^*$ resonance can help us to evaluate the SU(4) breaking effect in the future.

The absolute branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-π^0μ^{+}ν_μ$ is measured for the first time to be $(0.729 \pm 0.014_{\rm stat} \pm 0.011_{\rm syst})\%$. Based on an amplitude analysis, the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ contribution is determined to be $(5.76 \pm 0.35_{\rm stat} \pm 0.29_{\rm syst})\%$ of the total decay rate in addition to the dominated $K^{*}(892)^-$ component. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ$ is given to be $(2.062 \pm 0.039_{\rm stat} \pm 0.032_{\rm syst})\%$, which improves the precision of the world average by a factor of 5. Combining with the world average of ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)$, the ratio of the branching fractions obtained is $\frac{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-μ^+ν_μ)}{{\mathcal B}(D^0\to K^{*}(892)^-e^+ν_e)} = 0.96\pm0.08$, in agreement with lepton flavor universality. Furthermore, assuming single-pole dominance parameterization, the most precise hadronic form factor ratios for $D^0\to K^{*}(892)^{-} μ^+ν_μ$ are extracted to be $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.37 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat} \pm 0.03_{\rm syst}$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.76 \pm 0.06_{\rm stat} \pm 0.02_{\rm syst}$.

We study a millicharged co-interacting dark matter scenario, where the primary dark matter constituent is the dark photon $A'$ and the secondary component is the fermion $χ$. In this model, $χ$ interacts with $A'$ via a $U(1)'$ interaction while being millicharged with respect to normal photons. Our investigation focuses on the oscillation of $A'$ dark matter into photons within the background of $χ$ particles, revealing that the $A'-χ$ scattering rate benefits from a Bose enhancement of the $A'$ final state. As the oscillation production rate is directly linked to the scattering rate, the conversion of $A'$ dark matter into monochromatic photons experiences significant amplification owing to this Bose enhancement, especially when the scattering rate $Γ_{\rm sca}$ approaches the dark photon mass $m_{A'}$. These converted monochromatic photons are detectable through radio telescopes and can induce distortions in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) spectrum. We find that the sensitivity of radio telescopes and the constraints imposed by CMB distortion on the kinetic mixing parameter are notably heightened compared to scenarios without the subdominant millicharged dark matter.

By utilizing a background field effective theory, we compute the collisional energy loss of a heavy quark moving through a semiquark-gluon plasma characterized by nontrivial holonomy for Polyakov loops. We consider the elastic scatterings between the incident heavy quark and the thermal partons with both hard and soft momentum transfers. As compared to the energy loss obtained from the perturbation theory, the hard processes get modified through the thermal distribution functions that depend on the background field, while the proper treatment of the soft processes strongly relies on the use of the hard-thermal-loop resummed gluon propagator derived from the background field effective theory. Our results show that the heavy quark energy loss is significantly suppressed in the semiquark-gluon plasma due to a background field that is self-consistently generated in the effective theory. On the other hand, the suppression has a strong dependence on the temperature of the plasma which becomes negligible above $2 - 3 $ times the critical temperature. For a realistic coupling constant, ignoring a relatively weak dependence on the heavy quark velocity, the suppression on the collisional energy loss can be approximated by an overall factor determined solely by the background field. This simple conclusion is expected to be useful for phenomenological applications in the heavy flavor physics.

We present a detailed study of the lowest-lying ${\frac{1}{2}}^-$ and ${\frac{3}{2}}^-$ $Λ_{Q}$ resonances both in the heavy quark (bottom and charm) and the strange sectors. We have paid special attention to the interplay between the constituent quark-model and chiral baryon-meson degrees of freedom, which are coupled using a unitarized scheme consistent with leading-order heavy quark symmetries. We show that the $Λ_b(5912)$ [$J^P=1/2^-$], $Λ_b(5920)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] and the $Λ_c(2625)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$], and the $Λ(1520)$ [$J^P=3/2^-$] admitting larger breaking corrections, are heavy-quark spin-flavor siblings. They can be seen as dressed quark-model states with $Σ_{Q}^{(*)}π$ molecular components of the order of 30\%. The ${J^P=\frac{1}{2}}^-$ $Λ_c(2595)$ has, however, a higher molecular probability of at least $50$\%, and even values greater than 70\% can be easily accommodated. This is because it is located almost on top of the threshold of the $Σ_cπ$ pair, which largely influences its properties. Although the light degrees of freedom in this resonance would be coupled to spin-parity $1^-$ as in the $Λ_b(5912)$, $Λ_b(5920)$ and $Λ_c(2625)$, the $Λ_c(2595)$ should not be considered as a heavy-quark spin-flavor partner of the former ones. We also show that the $Λ(1405)$ chiral two-pole pattern does not have analogs in the $\frac{1}{2}^-$ charmed and bottomed sectors, because the $ND^{(*)}$ and $N\overline{B}{}^{(*)} $ channels do not play for heavy quarks the decisive role that the $N \overline{K}$ does in the strange sector, and the notable influence of the bare quark-model states for the charm and bottom resonances. Finally, we predict the existence of two $Λ_b(6070)$ and two $Λ_c(2765)$ heavy-quark spin and flavor sibling odd parity states.

The vector meson dominance model has been commonly employed in estimating the cross sections of such processes. However, the coupled-channel production mechanism through open-charm meson-baryon intermediate states may play a crucial role. To assess the significance of such contributions, we estimate the cross section of the $γp\to X(3872)p$ reaction assuming the coupled-channel mechanism. For energies near the threshold, the total cross section is predicted to be of tens of nanobarns for $γp\to X(3872)p$, which can be measured at future experimental facilities. Furthermore, the open-charm coupled-channel mechanism leads to a distinct line shape of the total cross section that can be utilized to reveal the production dynamics.

We investigate the enhancement of dark sector particle production within the scattering dominant regime. These particles typically exhibit a slight mixing with Standard Model particles through various portals, allowing for their generation through in-medium oscillation from Standard Model particle sources. Our analysis reveals that in the scattering dominance regime, with a significantly smaller scattering mean free path $λ_{\rm sca}$ compared to the absorption mean free path $λ_{\rm abs}$, the nonresonant production of sterile states can experience an enhancement by a factor of $λ_{\rm abs}/λ_{\rm sca}$. This phenomenon is demonstrated within the context of kinetic mixing dark photon production at a reactor, precisely satisfying this condition. By incorporating this collisional enhancement, we find that the current sensitivity to the mixing parameter $ε$ for dark photons in the TEXONO experiment can be significantly improved across a range spanning from tens of eV to MeV. This advancement establishes the most stringent laboratory constraint within this mass spectrum for the dark photon. Sterile neutrino production, however, does not exhibit such enhancement, either due to the failure to meet the scattering dominance criterion or the neutrino damping in resonant production.

Using a data sample of $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector in 2009, 2012, 2018 and 2019, the electromagnetic Dalitz process $J/ψ\to e^+ e^- η(1405)$ is observed via the decay $η(1405) \to π^0 f_0(980)$, $f_0(980) \to π^+ π^-$, with a significance of about $9.6σ$. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- π^0 η(1405) \to e^+ e^- π^0 f_0(980) \to e^+ e^- π^0 π^+ π^-)=(2.02\pm0.24(\rm{stat.})\pm0.09(\rm{syst.}))\times 10^{-7}$. The branching-fraction ratio ${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to e^+ e^- η(1405))$/${\mathcal B}(J/ψ\to γη(1405))$ is determined to be $(1.35\pm0.19(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-2}$. Furthermore, an $e^+e^-$ invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of $J/ψ\to e^+ e^-η(1405)$ is presented for the first time. The obtained result provides input for different theoretical models, and is valuable for the improved understanding the intrinsic structure of the $η(1405)$ meson.

Motivated by the recent observation of $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^0$ and $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^{++}$ in the $D_s π$ invariant mass distributions, we investigate $D^{\ast}K^{\ast}$ interactions in a coupled-channel approach. We show that the relativistic corrections could be significant for the energy far away from the threshold. Within the hidden local symmetry formalism, a sizable attraction interaction is found in the $J=0$ isospin triplet sector that can form a bound or a virtual state, which is consistent with the experimentally observed $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$. By reproducing a $D_s^*ρ$-$D^*K^*$ bound/virtual state with the pole mass equal to that of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$ measured by LHCb in the sector $(I,J)=(1,0)$, we determine the unknown parameter in the loop function, and then search for possible poles in the sectors of $I=1$, $J=1,$ 2 and $I=0$, $J=0$, 1, 2. The predicted resonances provide a useful reference for the future experimental studies of the $(C,S)=(1,1)$ systems and can be also helpful to unravel the nature of the $T_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$.10

We discuss recent lattice data for the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ state to stress, for the first time, a potentially strong impact of left-hand cuts from the one-pion exchange on the pole extraction for near-threshold exotic states. In particular, if the left-hand cut is located close to the two-particle threshold, which happens naturally in the $DD^*$ system for the pion mass exceeding its physical value, the effective-range expansion is valid only in a very limited energy range up to the cut and as such is of little use to reliably extract the poles. Then, an accurate extraction of the pole locations requires the one-pion exchange to be implemented explicitly into the scattering amplitudes. Our findings are general and potentially relevant for a wide class of hadronic near-threshold states.

Recently, the CMS and ATLAS collaborations have reported their $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $J/ψψ^\prime$ invariant mass distributions, respectively, for searching for fully charmed tetraquarks. Both of them reported the existence of a peak structure around $7.2~\gev$. In this article, we exhibit the role of the $η_c(2S)η_c(2S)$ channel, which is close to this peak position, by studying the $J/ψJ/ψ$ and $J/ψψ^\prime$ invariant mass distributions for the potential quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ or $2^{++}$ by considering both the coherence and incoherence with the background contribution. All these frameworks can describe the experimental data very well, however with different pole structures. For instance, in the case of $2^{++}$ description of these structures, there always exists a pole slightly below the $J/ψJ/ψ$ threshold. For the $0^{++}$ case, a similar pole can also be found below the $J/ψJ/ψ$ threshold however with a much lower mass. More importantly, the number of the poles is found to be case-dependent. For the $0^{++}$ ($2^{++}$) case, the peak structure around $7.2~\gev$ can (cannot) be produced due to the presence (absence) of the $η_c(2S)η_c(2S)$ channel. Although the pole positions are case-dependent, the relation between the peak structure in the $J/ψJ/ψ$ invariant mass distribution and the dip structure in the $J/ψψ^\prime$ invariant mass distribution around $7.2~\gev$ is unambiguous. We suggest experimentalists to detailed scan both the $J/ψJ/ψ$ and the $J/ψψ^\prime$ invariant mass distributions, especially around $7.2~\gev$ to probe the nature of the third fully charmed state.

To check the proposal, the available data in the $D\bar D$ and $D_s^+ D_s^-$ channels from both $ B$ decays and $γγ$ fusion reaction are analyzed considering both the $D\bar D$-$D_s\bar D_s$-$D^*\bar D^*$-$D_s^*\bar D_s^*$ coupled channels with $0^{++}$ and a $2^{++}$ state introduced additionally. It is found that all the data in different processes can be simultaneously well reproduced, and the coupled-channel dynamics produce four hidden-charm scalar molecular states with masses around 3.73, 3.94, 3.99 and 4.23~GeV, respectively. The results may deepen our understanding of the spectrum of charmonia as well as of the interactions between charmed hadrons.

Light millicharged particles can be copiously produced from meson decays in cosmic ray collisions with the atmosphere, leading to detectable signals in large underground neutrino detectors. In this paper we study a new channel to produce millicharged particles in the atmosphere, the proton bremsstrahlung process. We find that the proton bremsstrahlung channel can produce a much larger flux of millicharged particles than the previously studied meson decay channel, resulting in an improvement on the SuperK limit by nearly one order of magnitude. Consequently, SuperK can probe new parameter space beyond the current leading limits from ArgoNeuT. We further note that the study on the proton bremsstrahlung process can be extended to other atmospherically produced light particles, and to millicharged particle searches in proton accelerators.

Using an effective theory approach, we analyze different observables that can be accessed through the visible kinematics of the charged particles produced in the tau decay, for which we consider the $π^-ν_τ,ρ^-ν_τ$ and $μ^-\barν_μν_τ$ channels. We compare the results obtained in the Standard Model and other schemes containing new physics (NP) interactions, with either left-handed or right-handed neutrino operators. We find a discriminating power between models similar to the one of the $Λ_b\to Λ_c$ decay, although somewhat hindered in this case by the larger errors of the $Λ_b\toΛ^*_c$ lattice form factors. Notwithstanding this, the analysis of these reactions is already able to discriminate between some of the NP scenarios and its potentiality will certainly improve when more precise form factors are available.

We show that the data can be well described by either a bound or a virtual state below the $D_s^+D_s^-$ threshold. The mass given by the pole position is $(3928\pm3)$ MeV. Using this mass and the existing information on the $X(3872)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ resonances, a complete spectrum of the $S$-wave hadronic molecules formed by a pair of ground state charmed and anticharmed mesons is established. Thus, pole positions of the partners of the $X(3872)$, $Z_c(3900)$ and the newly observed $D_s^+D_s^-$ state are predicted. Calculations have been carried out at the leading order of nonrelativistic effective field theory and considering both heavy quark spin and light flavor SU(3) symmetries, though conservative errors from the breaking of these symmetries are provided.

We use a $\mathcal{O}(Λ_\text{QCD}/m_c)$ heavy quark effective theory scheme, where only $\mathcal{O}(Λ_\text{QCD}/m_b)$ and perturbative QCD short distance corrections are neglected, to study the matrix elements of the scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector and tensor currents between the $Λ_b$ ground state and the odd parity charm $Λ_c(2595)^+$ and $Λ_c(2625)^+$ resonances. We show that in the near-zero recoil regime, the scheme describes reasonably well, taking into account uncertainties, the results for the 24 form-factors obtained in lattice QCD (LQCD) just in terms of only 4 Isgur-Wise (IW) functions. We also find some support for the possibility that the $Λ_c(2595)^+$ and $Λ_c(2625)^+$ resonances might form a heavy-quark spin symmetry (HQSS) doublet. However, we argue that the available LQCD description of these two resonances is not accurate enough to disentangle the possible effects of the $Σ_c π$ and $Σ_c^*π$ thresholds, located only a few MeV above their position, and that it cannot be ruled out that these states are not HQSS partners. Finally, we study the ratio $\frac{dΓ[Λ_b\to Λ_{c,1/2^-}^* \ell \barν_\ell]/dq^2}{dΓ[Λ_b\to Λ_{c,3/2^-}^*\ell \barν_\ell]/dq^2}$ of the Standard Model differential semileptonic decay widths, with $q^μ$ the momentum transferred between the initial and final hadrons. We provide a natural explanation for the existence of large deviations, near the zero recoil, of this ratio from 1/2 (value predicted in the infinite heavy quark mass limit, assuming that the $Λ_{c,1/2^-}^*$ and $Λ_{c,3/2^-}^*$ are the two members of a HQSS doublet) based on S-wave contributions to the $Λ_b\to Λ_{c,1/2^-}^*$ decay amplitude driven by a sub-leading IW function.

We show that the Pomeron exchange mechanism should be a general dynamics in the near-threshold heavy quarkonium pair interactions. In the di-$η_c$ channel, a coupled-channel system involving the di-$η_c$, $η_c$-$η_c(2S)$ and di-$η_c(2S)$ interactions can be established. Their $S$-wave interactions near threshold via the Pomeron exchange potential can produce near-threshold resonance poles similar to the di-$J/ψ$, $J/ψ$-$ψ(2S)$ and di-$ψ(2S)$ coupled channels. Interestingly, we find here that the pole positions are more shifted to the corresponding thresholds and turn out to be different from those seen in the di-$J/ψ$ spectrum. Taking into account the suppression of the heavy quark spin flips in the transitions between two vector and two pseudoscalar heavy quarkonium systems, the enhancements in the di-$η_c$ spectrum should be different from those seen in the di-$J/ψ$ channel. Experimental study of the di-$η_c$ channel should be useful for disentangling the nature of the fully-heavy tetraquark systems.

This mechanism will introduce energy dependence and a $D$-wave amplitude to the vertex couplings. We propose an explanation to the new W mass measurement recently reported by the CDF collaboration, which is larger than the standard model expectation by about 7 standard deviations. To alleviate the tensions that are imposed on the electroweak sector by the new W mass measurement, we carry out an analysis in the Stueckelberg extended standard model where a new neutral gauge boson appears which mixes with the two neutral gauge bosons in the electroweak sector both via the Stueckelberg mass terms and via the gauge invariant Stueckelberg-Higgs portal interaction and spoils the custodial symmetry at the tree level so that the simple relation between the W boson mass and the Z boson mass does not hold. We find that such an extension increases the W boson mass if the new gauge boson mass is larger than the Z boson mass. We further show that there exists a significant part of the parameter space in the extended model which includes the CDF mass anomaly and is consistent with the various observables at the Z pole and consistent with the ATLAS dilepton limits. The Stueckelberg $Z'_{\rm St}$ boson, which resolves the CDF W mass anomaly, should be searchable in future LHC experiments.

We have also investigated effects from SU(3) light-flavor violations, which are found to be moderate and of the order of 20%. The successful reproduction of the BESIII spectra, in both the hidden-charm and hidden-charm strange sectors, strongly supports that the $Z_{cs}(3985)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ are SU(3) flavor partners placed in the same octet multiplet. The best results are obtained when an energy-dependent term in the diagonal $D^{(*)}\bar D_{(s)}^{(*)}$ interaction is included, leading to resonances (poles above the thresholds) to describe these exotic states. We have also made predictions for the isovector $Z_{c}^*$ and isodoublet $Z_{cs}^*$, $D^*\bar{D}^*$ and $D^*\bar{D}_{s}^*$ molecules, with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ and $J^{P}=1^{+}$, respectively. Long-lived particles that are present in many new physics models beyond the standard model, can be searched for in a number of newly proposed lifetime frontier experiments at the LHC. The signals of the long-lived dark photons can be significantly enhanced in a new dark photon model in which dark photons are copiously produced in the hidden radiation process. We investigate the capability of various lifetime frontier detectors in probing the parameter space of this model, including the far forward detectors FACET and FASER, the far transverse detector MATHUSLA, and the precision timing detector CMS-MTD. We find that the accessible parameter space is significantly enlarged by the hidden radiation process so that FACET, MATHUSLA, and CMS-MTD can probe a much larger parameter space than the so-called minimal model. The parameter space probed by FACET is found to be much larger than FASER, which is largely due to the fact that the former has a larger decay volume and is closer to the interaction point. There also exists some parameter space that can be probed both by the far detectors and by precision timing detectors, so that different experiments can be complementary to each other. A brief overview of the lifetime frontier detectors is also given.

Moreover, we predict the line shapes for the elastic and inelastic channels.

A coupled-channel approach is applied to the charged tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration. The parameters of the interaction are fixed by a fit to the observed line shape in the three-body $D^0D^0π^+$ channel. Special attention is paid to the three-body dynamics in the $T_{cc}^+$ due to the finite life time of the $D^*$. An approach to the $T_{cc}^+$ is argued to be self-consistent only if both manifestations of the three-body dynamics, the pion exchange between the $D$ and $D^*$ mesons and the finite $D^*$ width, are taken into account simultaneously to ensure that three-body unitarity is preserved. This is especially important to precisely extract the pole position in the complex energy plane whose imaginary part is very sensitive to the details of the coupled-channel scheme employed. The $D^0D^0$ and $D^0D^+$ invariant mass distributions, predicted based on this analysis, are in good agreement with the LHCb data. The low-energy expansion of the $D^*D$ scattering amplitude is performed and the low-energy constants (the scattering length and effective range) are extracted. The compositeness parameter of the $T_{cc}^+$ is found to be close to unity, which implies that the $T_{cc}^+$ is a hadronic molecule generated by the interactions in the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels. Employing heavy-quark spin symmetry, an isoscalar $D^*D^*$ molecular partner of the $T_{cc}^+$ with $J^P=1^+$ is predicted under the assumption that the $ DD^*$-$D^*D^*$ coupled-channel effects can be neglected.

We study the nature of the recently observed $P_{cs}(4459)$ by the LHCb collaboration by employing three methods based on the elastic effective-range expansion and the resulting size of the effective-range, the saturation of the compositeness relation and width of the resonance, and a direct fit to data involving the channels $J/ψΛ$, $Ξ'_c\bar{D}$ and $Ξ_c\bar{D}^*$. We have also considered the addition of a CDD pole but this scenario can be discarded. Our different analyses clearly indicate the molecular nature of the $P_{cs}(4459)$ with a clear $Ξ_c\bar{D}^*$ dominant component. In relation with heavy-quark-spin symmetry our results also favor the actual existence of two resonances with $J=1/2$ (the lighter one) and $3/2$ (the heavier one) in the energy region of the $P_{cs}(4459)$. In the scenario of two-resonance for the $P_{cs}(4459)$, the inclusion of the $Ξ_c'\bar{D}$ channel is required for the their mass splitting and it allows one to determine the spin structures of the two resonances.

Motivated by the observation of the first hidden charm pentaquarks by the LHCb collaboration in 2015 and the updated analysis with an order-of-magnitude larger data set in 2019, we estimate their cross sections for the prompt production as well as their heavy quark spin partners, in the $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ hadronic molecular picture, at the center-of-mass energy $7~\mathrm{TeV}$ in the $pp$ collision. Their cross sections are several $\mathrm{nb}$ and we would expect several tens hidden charm pentaquark events in the LHC based on its current integrated luminosity. The cross sections show a sizable deviation of the cross sections for hidden charm pentaquarks with the third isospin component $I_z=+\frac{1}{2}$ ($P_c^+$) from those with $I_z=-\frac{1}{2}$ ($P_c^0$). The cross sections decrease dramatically with the increasing transverse momentum. Our study can also tell where to search for the missing hidden charm pentaquarks. The confirmation of the complete hidden charm pentaquarks in the heavy quark symmetry would further verify their $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ molecular interpretation. In addition, the relative strength among these cross sections for pentaquarks can help us to identify the quantum numbers of the $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$.

We present a systematic study of the productions and decays of light axial vector mesons with $J^{PC}=1^{+\pm}$ in charmonium decays. In the quark model scenario, the two axial vector nonets are connected with each other by the Gell-Mann-Okubo mass relation through the mixing between two $K_1$ states (i.e. $K_1(1270)$ and $K_1(1400)$) with configurations of $^3P_1$ and $^1P_1$. The mixing angles between $f_1$ and $f_1'$ (i.e. $f_1(1285)$ and $f_1(1420)$), and between $h_1$ and $h_1'$ (i.e. $h_1(1170)$ and $h_1(1415)$) can be reliably constrained. We then introduce the intermediate $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ meson loop transitions in the description of the productions and decays of these axial vector mesons. The presence of the nearby $S$-wave $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ to which these axial vector mesons have strong coupling strengths, turns out to be crucial for understanding many puzzling questions related to their productions and decays. This is because that the $S$-wave $K^*\bar{K}+c.c.$ rescatterings by the kaon exchange satisfy the triangle singularity (TS) condition in some of these cases and the TS mechanism can introduce special interference effects in the exclusive decays of these light axial vector mesons.

The nature of the three narrow $P_c$ states, i.e., $P_c(4312)$, $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$, is under intense discussion since their discovery from the updated analysis by LHCb. In this work we extend our previous coupled-channel approach [Phys. Rev. Lett. \bf{124}, 072001 (2020)] by including the $Λ_c\bar{D}^{(*)}$ and $η_cp$ as explicitly in addition to the $J/ψp$, as required by unitarity and heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS). Since inelastic parameters are very badly constrained by the current data, three schemes are considered: (a) scheme I with pure contact interactions and without the $Λ_c\bar D^{(*)}$ interactions, (b) scheme II, where the one-pion exchange is added to scheme I, and (c) scheme III, where the $Λ_c \bar D^{(*)}$ are included in addition. It is shown that to obtain cutoff independent results, OPE in the multichannel system is to be supplemented with $S$-$D$ mixing contact terms. We demonstrate that the experimental data for the $J/ψp$ invariant mass distribution are consistent with the interpretation of the $P_c(4312)$ and $P_c(4440)/P_c(4457)$ as $Σ_c\bar{D}$ and $Σ_c \bar{D}^{*}$ hadronic molecules, respectively, and that the data show clear evidence for a new narrow $P_c(4380)$, as a $Σ_c^*\bar D$ molecule, which should exist as a consequence of HQSS. While two equally good solutions are found in scheme I, only one of these solutions with the quantum numbers of the $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ being $J^P=3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$, respectively, survives the requirement of regulator independence once the OPE is included. Moreover, we predict the line shapes in the elastic and inelastic channels and demonstrate that those related to the $P_c(4440)$ and the $P_c(4457)$ in the corresponding $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar{D}$ and $η_cp$ mass distributions allow one to confirm the quantum numbers given above, once the data are available.

The lightest charmed scalar meson is known as the $D_0^*(2300)$, which is one of the earliest new hadron resonances observed at modern $B$ factories. We show here that the parameters assigned to the lightest scalar $D$-meson are in conflict with the precise LHCb data of the decay $B^-\to D^+ π^- π^-$. On the contrary, these data can be well described by an unitarized chiral amplitude containing a much lighter charmed scalar meson, the $D_0^*(2100)$. We also extract the low-energy $S$-wave $Dπ$ phase of the decay $B^-\to D^+ π^- π^-$ from the data in a model-independent way, and show that its difference from the $Dπ$ scattering phase shift can be traced back to an intermediate $ρ^-$ exchange. Our work highlights that an analysis of data consistent with chiral symmetry, unitarity, and analyticity is mandatory in order to extract the properties of the ground-state scalar mesons in the singly heavy sector correctly, in analogy to the light scalar mesons $f_0(500)$ and $K_0^*(700)$.

Such a mechanism can provide a natural explanation for the nontrivial structures in the di-$J/ψ$ spectrum observed by the LHCb Collaboration. The narrow structure $X(6900)$, as a dynamically generated resonance pole, can arise from the Pomeron exchanges and coupled-channel effects between the $J/ψ$-$J/ψ$, $J/ψ$-$ψ(2S)$ scatterings. A pole structure near the di-$J/ψ$ threshold is also found. The photoproduction of the $J/ψ$ off the proton is believed to deepen our understanding of various physics issues. On the one hand, it is proposed to provide access to the origin of the proton mass, based on the QCD multipole expansion. On the other hand, it can be employed in a study of pentaquark states. The process is usually assumed to proceed through vector-meson dominance, that is the photon couples to a $J/ψ$ which rescatters with the proton to give the $J/ψp$ final state. In this Letter, we provide a compelling hint for and propose measurements necessary to confirm a novel production mechanism via the $Λ_c \bar D^{(*)}$ intermediate states. In particular, there must be cusp structures at the $Λ_c \bar D^{(*)}$ thresholds in the energy dependence of the $J/ψ$ photoproduction cross section. The same mechanism also implies the $J/ψ$-nucleon scattering lengths of order 1 mfm. Given this, one expects only a minor contribution of charm quarks to the nucleon mass.

Due to the mass hierarchy, the velocity of $ψ$ can be rather large and can have an extended distribution, which provides a good fit to the electron recoil energy spectrum. We estimated the flux of $ψ$ from dark matter annihilations in the galaxy and further determined the interaction cross section which is sizable but small enough to allow $ψ$ to penetrate the rocks to reach the underground labs.

By setting $N=3$, we then derive the axion mass, self-coupling, topological susceptibility and the normalized fourth cumulant both analytically and numerically, taking the strong isospin breaking effects into account. In addition, the model-independent part of the axion-photon coupling, which is important for axion search experiments, is also extracted from the chiral Lagrangian supplemented with the anomalous terms up to $\mathcal{O}(p^6)$.

A Dirac fermion $ψ$ charged under both $U(1)$ fields is introduced in the hidden sector which can be a subcomponent of the dark matter in the Universe. Stueckelberg mass terms between the two new gauge $U(1)$ fields and the hypercharge gauge boson mediate the interactions between the standard model sector and the hidden sector. A remarkable collider signature of this model is the enhanced long-lived dark photon events at the LHC than the conventional dark photon models; the long-lived dark photons in the model can be discriminated from the background by measuring the time delay signal in the precision timing detectors which are proposed to be installed in the LHC upgrades and have an ${\cal O} (10)$ pico-second detection efficiency. Searches with current LHCb data are also investigated. Various experimental constraints on the model including collider constraints and cosmological constraints are also discussed.

Their nature is under lively discussion, and their quantum numbers have not been determined. We analyze the $J/ψp$ invariant mass distributions under the assumption that the crossed-channel effects provide a smooth background. For the first time, such an analysis is performed employing a coupled-channel formalism with the scattering potential involving both one-pion exchange as well as short-range operators constrained by heavy quark spin symmetry. We find that the data can be well described in the hadronic molecular picture, which predicts seven $Σ_c^{(*)}\bar D^{(*)}$ molecular states in two spin multiplets, such that the $P_c(4312)$ is mainly a $Σ_c\bar D$ bound state with $J^P=1/2^-$, while $P_c(4440)$ and $P_c(4457)$ are $Σ_c\bar D^*$ bound states with quantum numbers $3/2^-$ and $1/2^-$, respectively. We also show that there is evidence for a narrow $Σ_c^*\bar D$ bound state in the data which we call $P_c(4380)$, different from the broad one reported by LHCb in 2015. With this state included, all predicted $Σ_c \bar D$, $Σ_c^* \bar D$, and $Σ_c \bar D^*$ hadronic molecules are seen in the data, while the missing three $Σ_c^*\bar D^*$ states are expected to be found in future runs of the LHC or in photoproduction experiments.

In this article, the analyticity of triangle loop integral with complex masses of internal particles is discussed in a new perspective, base on which we obtain the explicit width dependence of the absorptive part of the triangle amplitude. We reanalyze the decay pattern of $η(1405/1475)$ with the width effects included in the triangle singularity (TS) mechanism. Based on the present experimental information, we provide a self-consistent description of the $K\bar{K}π$, $ηππ$, and $3π$ decay channels for $η(1405/1475)$. Our results confirm the claim that the TS mechanism plays a decisive role in the understanding of the $η(1405)$ and $η(1475)$ puzzle. Namely, the observed differences of $η$ resonances within the mass region of $1.40\sim 1.48$ GeV are originated from the same state. For the isospin violated process $J/ψ\toγη(1405/1475)\to f_0(980)π\to 3π$, we identify an additional contribution to the $a_0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing via the TS mechanism.

In this paper, we have constrained the neutrino mass and mass hierarchy in the $Λ$CDM cosmology with the neutrino mass hierarchy parameter $Δ$, which represents different mass orderings, by using the {\it Planck} 2015 + BAO + SN + $H_{0}$ data set, together with the neutrino oscillation and neutrinoless double beta decay data. We find that the mass of the lightest neutrinos and the total neutrino mass are no more than $0.035$eV and $0.133$ eV at $95\%$ confidence level, respectively. Comparing the result of our joint analysis with that obtained using cosmological data alone, we find that, by adding the neutrino oscillation and neutrinoless double beta decay data, the tendency for normal hierarchy has increased a lot. By means of importance sampling, three other priors are taken into account, i.e., the flat logarithmic prior on the absolute value of the neutrino hierarchy parameter $Δ$, the flat linear prior on the total neutrino mass $Σm_ν$, and the flat logarithmic prior on $Σm_ν$. We find that the preference for the normal hierarchy is in agreement whatever what kinds of priors we choose. Finally, we make a Bayesian model analysis about four priors and we find that flat-linear and the flat logarithmic priors on $Σm_ν$ are the most favored priors.

Abstract:
The chiral symmetry of QCD requires energy-dependent pionic strong interactions at low energies. This constraint, however, is not fulfilled by the usual Breit--Wigner parameterization of pionic resonances, leading to masses larger than the real ones. The chiral symmetry of QCD requires energy-dependent pionic strong interactions at low energies. This constraint, however, is not fulfilled by the usual Breit--Wigner parameterization of pionic resonances, leading to masses larger than the real ones. We derive relations between nonleptonic three-body decays of the $B$-meson into a $D$-meson and a pair of light pseudoscalar mesons based on SU(3) chiral symmetry. Employing effective field theory methods, we demonstrate that taking into account the final-state interactions, the experimental data of the decays $B^-\to D^+π^-π^-$, $B_s^0\to \bar{D}^0K^-π^+$, $B^0\to\bar{D}^0π^-π^+$, $B^-\to D^+π^-K^-$ and $B^0\to\bar{D}^0π^-K^+$ can all be described by the nonperturbative $π/η/K$-$D/D_s$ scattering amplitudes previously obtained from a combination of chiral effective field theory and lattice QCD calculations. The results provide a strong support of the scenario that the broad scalar charmed meson $D^\ast_0(2400)$ should be replaced by two states, the lower one of which has a mass of around 2.1 GeV, much smaller than that extracted from experimental data using a Breit--Wigner parameterization.

Abstract:
In this present work, we study the scattering of a pseudoscalar meson off one ground state octet baryon in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory up to the next-to-next-to-leading order. We remove the power counting breaking terms with the extended-on-mass-shell scheme. We perform the first combined study of the pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering data and show that the covariant baryon…

We study the scattering of a pseudoscalar meson off one ground state octet baryon in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory (BChPT) up to the next-to-next-to-leading order. The inherent power counting breaking terms are removed within extended-on-mass-shell scheme. We perform the first combined study of the pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering data in covariant BChPT and show that it can provide a reasonable description of the experimental data. In addition, we find that it is possible to fit the experimental baryon masses and the pion-nucleon and kaon-nucleon scattering data simultaneously at this order, thus providing a consistent check on covariant BChPT. We compare the scattering lengths of all the pertinent channels with available experimental data and those of other approaches. In addition, we have studied the leading order contributions of the virtual decuplet and found that they can improve the description of the $πN$ phase shifts near the $Δ(1232)$ peak, while they have negligible effects on the description of the $K N$ phase shifts.
