Fun learning environment

I've programmed since the advent of personal computers, and did it professionally for over 30 years, and enjoyed many environments, like Turbo Pascal, but Swift Playgrounds is the most fun.

It'd be accessible to kids and non-programmers, and as a dad whose kids were raised with Macs, I wish this had been available to them. Even with the years I have behind me in a bunch of different languages, I find this entertaining. And, even though I'm retired now and don't have to program, I keep my fingers in it to help others, and play with the Playgrounds to learn Swift.

Way to go Apple!

Buggy app with enjoyable content

From the educational point of view, huge kudos to the development team. Swift Playgrounds succeeds in teaching coding skills in an engaging and enjoyable format. Kids will love this, and so does this 47-year old kid. The only reason I can't give this app five stars is because the preview area (game map) often disappears, leaving you with empty space. It takes some fiddling to get the map to redraw so it is usable again.

Gamified Learning

I was actually extremely impressed when starting this way of learning Swift. It starts by teaching learners how to think like a programmer rather than just syntax. Teaching just sytax is sort of like teaching the alphabet and then asking someone to write a book. This, however, teaches language concepts extremely well. A lot of online learning platforms could learn a lot from this.
