In this release we're resolving some minor issues and updating our app content delivery as our back end content systems undergo some major improvements.
ABC KIDS listen is a dedicated audio app for preschoolers, brought to you by the ABC.
Our aim is to provide children aged 0-5 and their families with a way to access the music and stories from the ABC that they love in a trusted online environment. ABC KIDS listen cares about providing Australian families with a safe space for their children to access educational and entertaining audio content.
You and your child can listen to our radio station, which has been designed to suit the changing needs of a child’s day and night, or simply choose a program on demand that best suits your needs at that moment.
Our programs are inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework of Australia, which encourages children to learn through play. The high quality audio programs give preschoolers a space where they can get their bodies moving and brains working. Explore, learn, and play, and later wind down, rest, and sleep.
Episodes can be downloaded and will then be available for seven days in the app before expiring, allowing for listening without an internet connection.
It’s free and commercial free. Other ABC apps designed specifically for preschoolers and their families include ABC KIDS iview and ABC KIDS PLAY.

Life saver but needs some minor improvements
This app is our new ‘carrot stick’ for getting our daughter to bed. She listens to a story time session as she goes to sleep. It’s been great! However Thomas the Tank Engine story is louder than the other shows and we can hear it blasting through her door - it’s a big enough change in sound that it would wake someone up who was drifting off to sleep. Unfortunately every story session fo far always has Thomas in the middle so I can’t choose one with him at the beginning and set the volume levels based on him. Can you please make sure that the volume is constant through a story time session? Also I can’t seem to find a way to remove a downloaded story time session, I just have to wait until it disappears. It’s either not there or not very obvious. It would be useful to be able to remove it to be able to reclaim storage on the phone. It would also be useful to have a time stamp in the story sessions playlist of when each story begins within the session so if we just wanted to listen to one story together I could know exactly what time to skip forward to it. The next amazing thing would be if as a parent we could create our own story time playlist and choose our own set of 4-5 stories from a list based on our child’s interests.

Thanks so much for your feedback. We have passed on the information about inconsistent sound levels to our programmers. To delete downloads if you hold your finger down on the file you want to remove there should be a pop up option to delete them. Happy listening The ABC KIDS listen team
Great app, but needs a timer that goes across programs
This app helps our daughter sleep so well, since we've been using it she has been sleeping through the night almost every night. However one of us will have to get up halfway through the night to set the timer so that she doesn't wake up at 6am when the program changes.
This morning we had both slept well and didn't get around to doing it, so now we have a baby whose routine is all messed up 🤦🏻♀️ if the app gave the option to turn off at a specific time this would help prevent abrupt wake ups.

Great kids app
I use this app with all three of my daughters. My eldest loves the quiet time to help her to go to bed and my middle daughter loves the sing along. I use the sing along and lullabies for my youngest.
I love that I can download for use in the car and I know I have lullabied for when my youngest wants to sleep in the car or I use the singalong one at school pick up and drop offs to keep everyone entertained on the drive. Great selection of kids songs from well loved performers like the wiggles, play school stars and jimmy giggle and hoot, all performers my kids know and love and great selection of kids songs that they can sing along to. Well done on a great app ABC
