Accountant - Qatar 
 
Contract Type: 12 months Fixed Term contract
 
Al Jazeera Media Network are currently seeking an Accountant to join the existing team. You will be responsible to perform book keeping and completing monthly & yearly closing activities as per Finance Division procedures & closing calendar deadlines for assigned bureaus / hubs. Responsible to make accurate & timely payments and to ensure adequate cash flow is always available in the bureau to meet editorial needs. The role includes preparing of Bank & Cash reconciliations as per finance procedures, processing invoices, organizing& reviewing supporting documents.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Complete monthly &yearly closing activities as per finance division procedures & closing Calendar deadlines for assigned bureaus. 
  • Prepare monthly expenses reimbursements for assigned bureaus and ensure adequate cash is maintained in bureaus 
  • Prepare Hubs Budget Payments in accordance with Finance Policies and Procedures. 
  • Review and Process SES's , GRs and down payment requests. 
  • Reconcile and clear balance sheet accounts as per Finance procedures. 
  • Comply with local laws in the Bureaus, ensure Filing of all required tax returns, declarations, statements and information to authorities as and when these become due, and Identify noncompliance issues for assigned bureaus. 
  • Post invoices and process vendor payments accurately and on time after checking compliance as per AJMN P&P and TOFA as well as local laws. 
  • Record and post financial transactions in accordance with Accounting standards and Finance policies and procedures. 
  • Guide and assist the Admin & Finance staffs in bureaus to perform their duties in all financial and tax compliance matters including liaising with external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretary and other financial consultants. 
  • Review supporting documents for assigned Bureaus and report noncompliance issues. 
  • Organize and Keep proper filing and tracking of financial and administrative subjects in shared folder. 
  • Liaise with the Bureau/Hub staffs in ensuring the team understand all finance policies and procedures and answer all the queries. 
  • Preparation and liaising with auditors for Annual statutory audit on financial statements (if applicable). 
  • Preparation and liaising with tax consultants for Corporate Tax annual submission and Transfer Pricing filing . 
  • Collect information and prepare reports as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional related experience. 
  • Understanding of accounting principles and the basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement). 
  • Knowledge of financial contracts, audit techniques, AP processes, financial control cycles & Letters of Guarantee (LGs) and Letters of Credit (LCs), Excel Skills, and related financial processes,
