Corporate Tax Update for UAE Businesses Registered in June 2023 Attention business owners! As per the latest update from the UAE Tax Authority: 1️⃣ Companies that were registered in June 2023 are required to file their Corporate Tax Return for the period of June to December 2023 before 30th September 2024. 2️⃣ Keep in mind, as per tax regulations, a financial year cannot be shorter than 6 months. Therefore, this specific rule only applies to companies registered in June 2023. There's more talk of bringing in income tax in Oman... What would you do if they brought in income tax in the rest of the GCC? For me, one of the main reasons of being in Dubai is the income tax-free lifestyle. The FTA has updated the UAE VAT Executive Regulations per Cabinet Decision No.100. Should be effective as of 15 November 2024. Arabic only version has been published per the below. This is a welcome move between the Federal Tax Authority and Dubai Land Department aiming to ensure correct VAT is collected in the real estate sales. A process of data sharing between the entities allows FTA to perhaps track the sales and ensure correct tax treatment is applied in such sales, resulting in better compliance and enhanced tax collections. We have practically experienced that the FTA auditors while auditing real estate companies are now more incisive and asking for far more details, that allow them to go deep in the business structures and the nature of transactions. Entities with licenses issued from January to April 2024 must register by specified dates, with March and April licenses due by June 30.
