Honestly, the word alone used to fill me with anxiety even years after my last personal count 🫣 But no more - Here is How you turn Stocktaking from a Nightmare into a Dream 🔥 As a GM, I saw and experienced firsthand the frustration my team and I faced with the endless, error-filled process of stocktaking. It drained our energy, created chaos, and often led to inaccuracies. I tried a few strategies, adjusted our approach, and got some small wins. But recently, I’ve landed on what I think is a foolproof method for stocktaking. Here’s how it works—what do you think? 1️⃣ Break it Down Don’t try to conquer the whole inventory at once. Divide your venue into manageable stock-taking zones. This approach makes the process more organized and digestible. 2️⃣ Go Digital Ditch the pen and paper for a digital system. It speeds up the process, cuts down on errors, and eliminates double handling of data. 3️⃣ Preparation is key The night before a stock count, get your night manager to make sure the stocktaking areas are fully stocked and organised. This makes counting easier and more efficient the next day. 4️⃣ Assign Responsibility Assigning the same person to count each time boosts efficiency and fosters respect and accountability within the team. The result? A streamlined, accurate stocktaking process that not only saves time but also improves cost of goods margins. Plus, it can boost team morale by creating a sense of ownership.
