The deployed Air Support Operations Center, Air Component Coordination Element, and Control and Reporting Center allow the air component to interact better at all levels and provide means to adjust to changing situations.

In addition to these three command functions, Major General Wilsbach serves as the Central Command combined force air component commander's personal representative to the ISAF commander as the air component coordination element liaison and serves on the ISAF Joint Command staff as the deputy chief of staff for air.

Empowered Air Component Coordination Element (2009-10)

Lt Gen Mike Hostage's article "A Seat at the Table: Beyond the Air Component Coordination Element" (Winter 2010) is a refreshing and timely reminder from a highly respected, war-fighting Airman that leadership in war is ultimately a human endeavor, and that physical presence and personal relationships mean much in councils of war.

The Air Force's recognition of this disconnect in 2003 led to implementation of the air component coordination element (ACCE).

The heavy emphasis on air requires that the doctrinal concepts of the air component coordination element (ACCE) be fully adopted not only for the United States but also in an integrated fashion with our ROKAF allies.

The JASDF and Thirteenth Air Force staffs are colocated at Yokota in a bilateral air component coordination element (BACCE) to execute the close and detailed bilateral coordination necessary when operating under unilateral and parallel lines of command and control.

These personnel replicated such doctrinal liaison units as the air component coordination elements, battlefield coordination detachments, and special operations liaison elements.
