SESV

GMS is the largest operator of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels (SESVs), also known as jackup barges, in the world.

The contract between Aker Kvaerner Subsea and Aker Oilfield Services is a result of the latter entering a five + five year contract with Brazil's national oil company Petrobras, to supply and operate a deepwater intervention vessel, called SESV.

Duncan Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of GMS, said the demand for SESVs across the MENA region is excellent and the market for their assets in Europe also remains strong with their entire fleet of ten SESVs currently chartered.

"The important step forward for the Group is the addition of six new jack up vessels which will expand the SESV fleet by two thirds by 2016," he said in a statement.

The Petrobras SESV vessel currently under construction has been chartered from DOF Subsea ASA and is based on the Aker OSCV 03 design.
