The Carlyle Group, a global alternative asset manager, has acquired a minority share in Ambio, a US-based global peptide active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) contract development and manufacturing organisation, from MVM Partners, a specialist healthcare fund, it was reported on Tuesday.

The Euro EUR 17.9 million (US Dollar USD 22 million) AMBIO project (Advanced Nanostructured Surfaces for the Control of Biofouling) involved 30 paint companies and academic institutions, including BASF, and sought to significantly reduce the adhesion of organisms to surfaces in aquatic environments.
