Installation ceremony of Interact Club 2025-26 was held on 4th August 2025 in Dr. MRSM English Medium High School to induct the newly elected office bearers.

In the presence of Rtn. James D'souza, President Rotary Mulki; Rtn. Jinaraj C. Salian, Interact Chairman; Rtn. Roshan Furtado, Secretary, Rotary Mulki, along with the Principal of the school, Mrs Shreelatha Rao, the newly elected office bearers took oath, pledging to uphold the values of the club. Later they were bestowed the badges by the Rotary dignitaries.

News from NRAMP | Grand Opening of Fashion Vibe Store

The Department of Apparel Design & Fabrication Technology of NRAM Polytechnic hosted the opening of the “Fashion Vibe Store” from 4th to 6th August 2025. The event introduced the store to students, staff and the local community, showcasing trendy, affordable apparel for a youthful audience. Faculty, students and guests attended the inauguration, which featured a presentation on the store’s vision and product range, followed by a guided tour of its diverse collection.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, students prepared and sold hygienic food items such as juices, fast foods and snacks. Handmade artifacts crafted by students were also on sale, reflecting their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. The stalls attracted many visitors, creating an engaging and interactive environment for the participants. The combination of a well-planned inauguration, active community participation, creative student stalls and a clear brand vision made the event memorable.

News from NGSMIPS | Orientation Program 2025-26

The Orientation Program for the newly admitted students of BPharm, DPharm, PharmD, and MPharm was held on 1st August 2025 at K S Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. The event aimed to warmly welcome the freshers and help them smoothly transition into their academic journey by familiarizing them with the institution’s vision, mission, resources, support and the exciting journey that lies ahead.

The programme began with an invocation to the almighty by Ankitha and Shruthi. Principal, Dr. Marina Koland welcomed the gathering and this was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp.

Prof. (Dr.) C S Shastry, Director (Research & Strategic Initiatives), NGSMIPS spoke about the critical role of research and innovation in pharmacy and how students can contribute to society by being responsible professionals and thinkers.

Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) MS Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (DU) highlighted the university’s mission, values and facilities. He mentioned that pharmacy is one of the premium programs offered by the University, and highlighted the University`s commitment to quality education and excellence in the healthcare sector.

Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte DU focused on the scope and relevance of pharmacy as a profession, particularly in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare sector. He also outlined the academic and infrastructural facilities available to students at Nitte, highlighting the institution’s diverse and enriching academic environment.

Col B S Ghivari (Retd), Asst. Director (Student Affairs), Nitte DU elaborated about the hostel facilities highlighting that the hostel menu is thoughtfully planned to meet the nutritional requirements of students. He also emphasized that staying in the hostel teaches students valuable lessons in life such as adjustment, self-reliance, discipline and building bonds.

An interactive segment followed, providing parents and students the opportunity to share their experience. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Prashanth Nayak.







News from NIPT | The Orientation Program

The Orientation Program for the BPT students of the 2025-26 batch was held on 4th August 2025 at the KS Hegde Auditorium. Prof. (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor (Hospital Administration & PG Studies), presided over the event. He highlighted the importance and growing relevance of physiotherapy and extended his best wishes to the freshers.

Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the students & parents for choosing NIPT as their academic foundation.

Mr. Nityal Kumar, Coordinator of the Mentor-Mentee Program, spoke about the crucial role of mentorship in a student’s academic journey. Mr. Krishna Prasad, Coordinator- UG Studies, outlined the academic policies, rules & regulations of the University, stressing anti-ragging measures and the commitment to a substance-free campus.

An interactive session followed, where faculty members and the Principal addressed queries from students and parents. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ruchita Narsia, Batch Coordinator. Ms. Nishitha Fernandes served as the Master of Ceremony.

Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing conducted an Orientation Program for the First year M.Sc (SLP) and M.Sc (Audiology) students on 01.08.2024 at Chinthana Hall, K S Hegde Charitable Hospital.  The program was officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest and Presiding Officer, Prof. (Dr) M. Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor (Hospital Management & PG Studies), Nitte University.

News from ABSMIDS | Special Recognition Award from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI

A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences received the Special Recognition Award from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, for its exceptional contribution to oral health promotion and services, during the 7th National Steering Group (NSG) Meeting for Oral Health under the National Oral Health Programme, held on 6th August 2025 at the Directorate General of Health Services, New Delhi.

The award was received by Prof. (Dr) Mithra N Hegde, Principal, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences from Dr. Sunitha Sharma, Director, General Health Services, Dr. L Swasticharan, Addl. Deputy Director General & Director (Emergency Medical Relief) and Dr. R. P. Joshi, Addl. Director, General Health Services, all from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.





News from ABSMIDS | Session on “Bioinformatics and Its Application in Research”

A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in collaboration with the Department of Research & Development, Nitte University, conducted a session on “Bioinformatics and Its Application in Research” on 21st July 2025

The program was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde, Principal, ABSMIDS who emphasized the growing importance of interdisciplinary research in modern healthcare education.

The program was presided over by Prof. (Dr) Praveen Kumar Shetty, Director R&D who delivered valuable insight into the evolving relevance of bioinformatics in clinical & academic research, highlighting the institutional commitment to nurturing a research-driven environment.

The resource person, Dr. R Shyama Prasad Rao, Faculty, Centre for Bioinformatics, Nitte DU, meticulously explained the role of bioinformatics and computational tools in biomedical research. His talk included recent advances and the integration of bioinformatics into multidisciplinary scientific inquiry. The session evoked significant academic interest among faculty members and students alike. A total of 115 participants attended the program.
