AN academic exhibition featuring the calligraphy and seal-cutting pieces created by artist Huang Dun is currently being showcased at the He Xiangning Art Museum in Nanshan District. The “Wind From the South��? exhibition presents a collection of over 100 works by Huang, encompassing poems, calligraphy, paintings, and prints. It emphasizes the artist’s achievements, aligning closely with academic pursuits, with a dedicated section highlighting Huang’s academic contributions. The exhibition is divided into four sections, with a dedicated section showcasing Huang’s academic achievements. This stark difference from his past solo exhibitions and other exhibitions that solely exhibited artworks provides a fresh viewing experience for the audience. The museum has been focusing on exhibitions featuring outstanding artworks by modern and contemporary celebrities, traditional and contemporary artists in recent years. It views Huang’s exhibition as a cornerstone for showcasing contemporary calligraphy exhibitions, aiming to offer practical examples for research within the art community. Huang, renowned as a calligrapher, seal artist, and scholar, stands as a significant figure in contemporary Chinese calligraphy research, exerting a profound influence on both calligraphy and seal-cutting practices. As a professor at both Nanjing University of the Arts and the China Academy of Art, Huang has nurtured numerous students in the realm of calligraphy and seal-cutting.
