NUI elects Professor Michael B. Murphy
as Chancellor

National University of Ireland’s Chancellor election process concluded on the 17 October, and the candidate who has duly been elected as the sixth Chancellor of NUI is Professor Michael B. Murphy, MB BCh BAO, MD.

Professor Murphy is Immediate Past President of the European University Association, former President of University College Cork, Dean of Medicine, Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and physician. He held research/faculty positions at the University of London and The University of Chicago for 12 years.

NUI First World War Centenary
Roll of Honour and Essays

On 14 November 2024 at 18:00, National University of Ireland launched NUI First World War Centenary Roll of Honour and Essays, edited by Ronan McGreevy and Emer Purcell, with Tom Burnell as Associate Editor.

In 1919, the National University of Ireland compiled a war list of all students, graduates, and staff of University College Cork, University College Dublin, and University College Galway, who had died or served in the Great War.

SeanadVoter.ie

National University of Ireland is delighted to see the launch of SeanadVoter.ie today.  NUI is the Central Registration Authority for the new Higher Education Constituency in Seanad Éireann.  This constituency has an extended franchise and is one combined constituency for the Higher education sector.  SeandVoter.ie is the vehicle by which people can claim their votes. 

Information on the application process is available on SeanadVoter.ie and will be communicated via a wider media campaign early in the new year.  The Act stipulated that the application window for inclusion on the 2025 register will close on 23rd January 2025.
