GoldBee Sends ToonMarty to Italy and YouTube

Montreal-based Sardine Production’s popular animated comedy series ToonMarty has been picked up by Discovery Networks Italy (Italia) in a deal brokered by Barcelona-based distributor GoldBee. The 40 x 11-minute series will air on Discovery’s free-to-air (FTA) Italian channel K2 starting later this spring.


GoldBee has also signed a deal with DHX Media’s digital kids network WildBrain to launch and develop ToonMarty content on YouTube.

Produced by Sardine Productions with support from the Bell Fund, the Canadian Media Fund, the the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC), the Shaw Rocket Fund and the Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles (SODEC), the series was originally commissioned by Corus Entertainment for its French and English TELETOON networks, where it premiered in May 2017. It was then picked up by France Télévisions’ France 4 channel and Nickelodeon for its international channels and digital platforms, excluding North America, China and Japan. The show will also begin airing on CITV in the UK later this year.

Christophe Goldberger, GoldBee’s managing director (MD), remarked: “With these new partners on board, ToonMarty is present on A-list platforms in most major European territories. The launch of the brand on YouTube will help grow the fan base globally. We are now looking to secure new partners for the merchandising activities of ToonMarty.”

Ghislain Cyr, the president of Sardine Productions and producer of ToonMarty, added: “We are delighted by the success of the series. It is always exciting to know that our work touches audiences from around the world.”

In Toonville, where all cartoons live, Marty is the only employee at Toonmart and he loves to stick his nose in everybody’s business, often leading to zany adventures. ToonMarty was developed in tandem with an interactive online game entitled Marty’s Special Delivery that charges players with serving the eccentric customers who inhabit Toonville.

Kids Can Get intu Slime This Easter With New Nickelodeon UK Retail Campaign

Shopping centre chain, intu will host a unique retail activation that will allow customers to become immersed in slime this Easter!


Nickelodeon UK has partnered with intu shopping centres for a slimy retail activation that will see a slew of slime-themed activities brought to shopping centres across the country this Easter!

Kids can get the ultimate badge of honour by being slimed themselves, in the slime-ulator that will be touring 13 of intu's UK shopping destinations for a limited period from Saturday 24th – Sunday 15th April 2018.

"We’re looking to replicate the success of last Easter’s campaign with Nickelodeon when 8,000 people registered to meet PAW Patrol at intu centres and 180,000 people visited intu's event pages," said Roger Binks, customer experience director at intu.


Audience being slimed at SLIMEFEST 2017

“We’ll be drawing even bigger crowds to our centres and online this year with a whole range of fun, free, messy experiences that will drive up dwell-time and footfall for our retailers by making every intu centre a must-visit destination over the school holidays.”

Mark Kingston, Senior Vice President (SVP) Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) at Nickelodeon added: “Slime is this year’s big kids trend and Nickelodeon is looking forward to bringing the fun associated with the green substance to kids at intu shopping centres across the UK.”


The campaign follows the success of previous years’ collaborations between Nickelodeon and intu which has seen the retail destination host experiences featuring SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol’s Chase and Marshall.

Nickelodeon has also partnered with merchandising company SAMBRO, which will launch a range of Slime-related products - including the Nickelodeon Slime Hyper Blaster - to appeal to the 3+ market, in the UK from April 2018.

Nickelodeon will also be opening a Nickelodeon-themed family entertainment centre, the brand's first UK shopping centre attraction, at intu Lakeside later this year, and will be hosting its third annual SLIMEFEST event in Blackpool in October 2018.

Nickelodeon UK and intu team up to slime-ulate shoppers


London, 9th February 2018, Kids entertainment brand Nickelodeon and shopping centre owner intu are collaborating for a major slime related activation involving a specially created slime-ulator which will be touring intu shopping centres in the UK.

Being slimed by Nickelodeon is the ultimate badge of honour and the physical embodiment of the playful and unconventional nature of the kids brand. Nickelodeon and intu are now offering kids the chance to be slimed. The slime-ulator machine will be touring 13 of intu’s UK shopping destinations for a limited period from Saturday 24th March – Sunday 15th April.

All intu shopping centres including intu Trafford Centre, intu Lakeside and intu Metrocentre will also host a range of free slime-themed activities. Attendees will be able to customise slime at dedicated play stations, get slime tattoos, doodle on a giant slime colouring wall as well as capture and share photos at a slime photo booth. One family will also have the chance to win a VIP family ticket to Nickelodeon’s SLIMEFEST 2018 which takes place later this year in Blackpool.

Nickelodeon Russia Partners With Birdie To Launch Hair Styling Services For Kids

Nickelodeon Russia (Россия) has partnered with popular Russian hair salon chain Birdie to launch a brand-new hair styling service for kids based by Nick Jr.'s brand-new show, Sunny Day (Санни Дэй)!


Launched on Monday 2nd April 2018, Прически от Санни ('Hairstyles by Sunny'), hair stylists at branches of Birdie around Russia will create and design stylish and original hairstyles inspired by Nickelodeon's latest animated preschool series, which follows Sunny, a 10-year-old master hairstylist and the owner of her own beauty salon, who solves any problem that arises in her seaside town of Friendly Falls with the help of a comb, hair clips and a positive attitude.

The service is open to girls aged 16-years-old and under at participating Birdie hair salons in the Russian cities of St. Petersburg, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and costs 600 Russian Rubles. (The cost of the service in each region can be confirmed by ringing the phone number below).

In addition to Прически от Санни, the Birdie hair salon in Moscow will launch Академия Санни (the 'Academy of Sunny') on Sunday 8th April 2018, which invites mothers and daughters to take part in hair styling masterclasses to learn how to create stylist hair designs inspired by Sunny Day. Classes will be held every Sunday at 12:00 and 15:00 throughout April 2018, with each lesson priced at 2000 Russian Rubles.

Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand will premiere Knight Squad, Nickelodeon’s newest live action comedy series, on Monday 21st May 2018 at 5:30pm (AEDT)! Viacom breaks ground on Nickelodeon Cultural Resort
the first Nickelodeon-branded theme park in China

FOSHAN, CHINA – Rethink Leisure & Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based design agency and international subsidiary of Al Ahli Holding Group, has been awarded the design and master planning contract for China-based Elite Global Group Limited’s (EGGL) Nickelodeon theme park, a major part of the Foshan Cultural and Ecological Coastal Park. The contract-signing ceremony in Foshan was attended by representatives of Rethink Leisure & Entertainment and Elite Global Group.

Rethink will provide a full suite of design services to the multi-million dollar project, including master planning, park design, attraction development, and IP selection in coordination with Elite Global Group and Nickelodeon. Rethink will be working closely with its partners to create the most immersive and extensive Nickelodeon experience ever built, featuring such beloved characters as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer and many more.

The US$1.85 billion, 250-acre Nickelodeon-themed project is a central feature of the 750-acre, Foshan Cultural and Ecological Coastal Park, a master-planned environment encompassing cultural, tourism, sports and science and technology components. Groundbreaking was held on January 4, 2017 and is anticipated to open between 2020 and 2021. The project is located in Foshan, a city in Southern China of more than seven million people, part of the affluent, greater Pearl River Delta mega metropolitan region. Including the large cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, more than 22 million people live in the Pearl River Delta, which is also adjacent to the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions.

Animal Trainers Sue Over Talent Fight on Nickelodeon’s ‘Mutt & Stuff’

A Hollywood animal casting agency says they got the doggone shaft when a trainer went behind their back and cut his own lucrative deal, and now they’re looking to collect some major bones, reports The Blast.


According to documents obtained by The Blast, Animal Savvy says in 2013 and 2014 they were approached by a production company to provide a “number of dogs to perform on a television special pilot called Mutt & Stuff.


Animal Savvy says they immediately contacted famed animal trainer Omar Von Muller, who famously trained the late pup Uggie from The Artist. Muller had a dog named Jumpy (pictured above) that the casting agency thought would be perfect for the role of Zippy.

After the show got picked up by Nickelodeon, Animal Savvy says they were selected as the animal provider, so they cut a deal with Von Muller to use Jumpy and two of his other dogs, Popeye and Dash.

Mutt & Stuff became a clear success, but Animal Savvy says the money Muller was getting “was apparently not enough,” so he allegedly hatched a deal with producers to cut Animal Savvy out of the deal with his dogs.

Animal Savvy says in October 2015 they got a text message from Muller informing them that “Jumpy is irreplaceable, he’s the star of the show that nickelodeon wants.” Muller allegedly said he could not work with Animal Savvy as a partner anymore, and that “You can still make money out of 20 dogs if you want to, but not from mine. Especially Jumpy.”

Muller allegedly effectively cut Animal Savvy out of their 1/3 animal rental fee, and now they’re going after Muller for $98,141.66 claiming he breached their contract by trying to cut his own deal.

Set in a unique school for dogs, Mutt & Stuff stars Calvin Millan and his dad, Cesar, star of Cesar 911 and original star of Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, interacting with a cast of both real Dogs and puppets. With the help of 15 playful puppies and charismatic puppets, Calvin educates preschoolers on how to train and guide their dogs, as well as showcase the friendship and loyalty that puppies can provide. The series has a social-emotional curriculum that helps preschoolers identify and manage emotions, build interpersonal awareness and develop social skills.

Mutt & Stuff is created and executive produced by Sid & Marty Krofft (H.R. Pufnstuf, Land Of The Lost, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, The Bugaloos), along with Bradley Zweig (Yo Gabba Gabba!, Wallykazam!). Cesar Millan also serves as executive producer.
