The new #Fatkini trend is now sweeping the internet with many hoping it will lead to stores selling bikinis in larger sizes

Pictures of glamorous celebrities bathing in their bikinis are nothing new.

But a new trend is now sweeping the internet, instead celebrating 'real women' posing on the beach.

This brilliant collection of pictures below shows the pictures which have been gathering online under the #Fatkini hastag.

It is thought that many of the women in the pictures are wearing a bikini for the first time in public.

As reported by BuzzFeed, #Fatkini was believed to have been started by beauty blogger Gabi Gregg, allowing women of all sizes to share their selfies around the world.

It is also believed the trend can help shops begin to sell bikinis in larger sizes.

Marie Denee, of the popular fashion blog Curvy Fashionista, told BuzzFeed: “Social media allows for these women to congregate, interact with each other. They’re like, ‘Oh, you like bikinis too? Let’s demand our bikinis!’”
