RONALD E VICKERSRonald E Vickers is my uncle that went missing back in the 1990s. We loved him very much and were surprised to see when we searched online that he was deceased. We were never notified of his death and have no idea where or how he died at the age of 43. We have reached out to several states trying to obtain more information about his death and no one can tell us anything. From what we know he has lived in the states of Oregon, California, and Michigan. If anyone knows anything about what happened to my uncle and where and how he died please email me at [email protected]09/18/2024

DAVID P MACPHERSONDavid Paul Macpherson (note the proper spelling with a small “p” which denotes they were from a clan of lowlanders in Scotland) was my father. He joined the Marines at 17, with a note from his mother. He trained at Camp Pendleton & became a radio man in an amphibious tank. They were deployed on a naval ship to arrive as backup to the troops engaged in the Pacific. They waited for weeks at sea until finally dropping their tanks into the water & onto the shores of Okinawa, where they faced Japanese troops. After losing many Marines, they took the island. A movie recruiter came & pointed out 3 guys to come with him. He chose the tallest guys(my dad was 6’3”) that “looked like Marines” & took them to Hollywood. He spent the rest of his enlisted time “acting” in several newsreels & a few movies. The biggest one was GUADALCANAL DIARY in 1943. After the war, he used the GI Bill to get degrees in Sociology & Political Science from Berkeley & USC. He joined the 49ers, the first trainees for LA County Probation Dept. He stayed with the department until he retired in 1976. He married my mother Sara Valdez 5/7/1955 & they were married 50 years until his death. I was born Marta Elena Macpherson 2/12/1959. His only child. His passion was improving Police/Community relations & was involved in many groups & committees in the field. He became a member of the Police Review Board ordered by the Christopher Commision after the Rodney King Beating. He also produced a quarterly newsletter with a small board of members, called MacTalk. He continued both until 3 months before his death in 2006. 08/10/2024
