TheAI Alliance Russia has announced a new ranking of Russian universities based on the quality of education in the field of AI. A total of 203 universities from 68 Russian regions participated in the ranking. HSE University was the first to join the highest A++ group.

Representatives of HSE University and Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency held a meeting to discuss opportunities for cooperation in creative education and cultural exchange. The event took place at HSE University’s Art and Design School, with the support of the Royal Thai Embassy in Russia.

HSE University has launched a few strategic technological projects aimed at achieving the institution’s target development model. These projects focus on creating a portfolio of innovative products and services that fall under three key areas: socio-economic, science, and technology foresight, as well as 6G communication technologies and artificial intelligence.

From July 21 to 23, HSE University's atrium on Pokrovsky Bulvard hosted a stage of the Russian Chess Grand Prix—a major event bringing together over 250 participants from five countries and 44 regions across Russia. It was also attended by eight grandmasters, six international masters and 26 FIDE masters.

Researchers from HSE University and the Russian Academy of Sciences have assessed the levels of climate risks across Russian regions. Using five key climate risks—heatwaves, water stress, wildfires, extreme precipitation, and permafrost degradation—the scientists ranked the regions according to their need for adaptation to climate change. The study has been published in Science of the Total Environment.

HSE University and MTS Web Services have announced the launch of a series of joint research initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence technologies. These efforts aim to develop innovative solutions in cybersecurity, multimodal content generation, and big data analysis. The project’s leading institution is HSE MIEM, under the overall coordination of the HSE AI Research Centre.

Registration for the BRICS International School: New Generation, one of the leading international educational projects aimed at prospective leaders interested in the agenda of global development and cooperation within the framework of BRICS, has opened.

In the Moscow Region, HSE’s country complex located on the banks of the Ruza Reservoir, has reopened its doors. Faculties and other university departments can now apply on the complex’s website to hold events there in September.

Researchers predict that this summer, the planet may once again approach its maximum rotation speed. Leonid Zotov, Professor at the School of Applied Mathematics, MIEM HSE, notes that if, in the past, the so-called ‘leap second’ was added on New Year’s Eve, then for the first time in history, the question has arisen about whether it is time to subtract one.
