VIENTIANE -- China is funding a teacher training project as part of efforts to improve the education system in Laos, the Lao national TV reported on Thursday.

Under the project funded by the Chinese government, 1,000 teachers and school administrators will take part in a training course on Nov. 13-26. In addition, 2,000 teachers and school administrators will have the opportunity to attend a training course in China. (Laos-China-Training Project)

HERAT, Afghanistan -- A total of 41 containers of China-donated quake-relief supplies arrived in west Afghanistan's Herat province on Thursday.

The aid including food, tents, folding beds and jackets is expected to help the quake-affected residents in Herat survive the harsh winter.

"These donations will be distributed to the quake-affected victims and the poor. This aid is more valuable than anything," said Kefayatullah Haqqani, head of Herat's financial authorities. (Afghanistan-China-Earthquake Relief)

JAKARTA -- Two light attack aircraft crashed in Indonesia's East Java province on Thursday, killing all four people aboard, according to the Indonesian Air Force.

The two Super Tucano turboprops with tail numbers TT-3103 and TT-3111 hit a steep slope of Mount Bromo volcano while conducting a routine flight-formation exercise in Pasuruan district, said First Marshall Agung Sasongkojati, spokesman of the Indonesian Air Force.

SIEM REAP, Cambodia -- Chinese-invested Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) in northwest Cambodia's Siem Reap province was inaugurated on Thursday, raising hope for the recovery of the kingdom's tourism industry.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by more than 1,000 people.

Speaking at the event, Hun Manet said the airport was launched as Cambodia and China celebrated the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and China marked the 10th anniversary of the BRI's inception. (Cambodia-Tourism-Airport)

TOKYO -- Japan logged a trade deficit of 662.5 billion yen (4.38 billion U.S. dollars) in October, shrinking 70.0 percent from a year earlier, as imports continued to fall and exports saw the second month of increase, government data showed Thursday.

The October trade data marked the first deficit in two months, following an upwardly revised 72.1 billion yen surplus in September, according to the Finance Ministry's preliminary report. (Japan-Trade Deficit) Enditem
