US drama Supernatural is to move from ITV2 to Living after Virgin Media secured the first-run UK TV rights to series five.

The deal to take the CW network show to Virgin Media TV will also award second-run rights to stablemate Virgin 1.

All four series previously aired on ITV2, with the last one coming to an end last month.

Series five is in production and is slated for an autumn premiere in the US. It has been reported that the lead cast members have signed on for a sixth season.

Set in the US, but shot in British Columbia, Supernatural tells the story of brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who travel the country in their ‘67 Chevy Impala looking for their missing father and encountering evil spirits along the way.

Since they were young boys, their father has been obsessed with the evil forces that murdered his wife. Many of the paranormal events and other unexplained occurrences they come across during their journey are based on folklore, myths, American urban legends and classic tales of supernatural creatures, such as vampires, werewolves and ghosts.

The fifth season sees the brothers go head-to-head with the devil.

Supernatural is made by Warner Bros in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision and is written and executive produced by creator Eric Kripke.

The deal, understood to be part of a bigger package of Warner Bros shows for Virgin Media TV, was brokered by TV head of acquisitions Amy Barham.

VMTV recently bought Warner Bros’ Eleventh Hour for Living and offers other Warner Bros programmes such as The OC, The West Wing and ER on its on-demand service.

Virgin Media TV declined to comment on the deal.
