ISE, Mie Prefecture--The Ninja Kingdom Ise theme park here is hosting a projection mapping show to entertain and delight guests after sunset.

The highlight of the Night Kingdom event is 3-D projection mapping showing a 43-meter-high replica of Azuchi Castle bursting into flames at the end of the show.

“We would love for visitors to fully enjoy the show with its vivid and immersive images and sounds,” a representative said.

The show runs for about five and a half minutes and tells the story beginning with the castle’s construction by feudal warlord Oda Nobunaga and ending with its doomed fate, accompanied by music and narration.

Projection mapping is also offered at six other locations across the park.

For example, a phoenix and a dragon flying in the starry sky are projected on to the ceiling above an escalator, while fireflies, fallen leaves and other seasonal motifs are presented in a garden.

Night Kingdom is being held between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays, as well as during the winter break from December 23 to January 8.

Admission is 2,000 yen ($13.60) for junior high school students or older, 1,000 yen for elementary school students and free for preschoolers.
