Danish Army
Specific: Based on a QLB-chassis with Turner
winch, this comprehensively equipped breakdown/recovery
vehicle was in Danish Army service for a long period of
time. By using a shortened GS cargo body, its rear
overhang was kept down to minimum and size 12.00 - 20
tyres were fitted to increase the trucks carrying
capacity. In addition to a manually operated Mann Egerton
5 ton twin-lift recovery crane, the body contained a
two-wheeled "towing-ambulance" stored at the
rear, skotches, a tow bar an "A"-bar, cables,
chains pioneer tools and other equipment.
Just visible below the tail board (left side) are the
Notek-type rear light unit, with which most Danish Army
vehicles were equipped until they were retro-fitted with
the post-war US military front and rear black-out lights
in the 1960s.
The shown vehicle belonged to the Jutland Signal
Regiment.
