Bent was called up for the first time to the England squad although he did not feature in the 4-1 loss to Denmark.
"He has had a taster of the training so that will definitely hold him in good stead," said Powell.
"He can learn not only from the coaching staff by also from players like Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen."
