Norway's new cabinet named
Norway's new prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg, who formally takes office later today, has named his cabinet. The new Labour government -- which takes over from the previous centrist coalition -- includes many party veterans including a former prime minister, Thorbjoern Jagland, who will be foreign minister. Nearly half the ministers are women and include Hanna Harlem, the younger sister of former prime minister Gro Harlem Brundtland. The previous minority government resigned last week after failing to win enough support to block plans to build Norway's first gas-fired power stations. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
